well after participating in a sidekick study in december of 2009. there are a few things i do know. the new sidekick willl be very sleek. It will have a touch screen. and i absolutely loved the keyboard. as for internal features im not sure. we only tested the hardware. they took the battery out of the phone so we couldnt turn them on =/

Great discussion. I believe the NEW SK should have touchscreen capabilities interacting with the keyboard it already has (no touchscreen keyboard). It should have WIFI and be windows mobile enhanced or compatible. A better web browser that's faster, java enabled and trimmed down like safari or mozilla would make the entire experience a helluvalot  better. It should also come with more internal memory so more apps can be added without problems or be able to access the mini-SD card to install more apps.

All great suggestions! I'd really like WiFi capability.

i had a sidekick lx a while back, and hated it.

what would be nice is more stable sidekick servers
gettin contacts off the danger systems should be easier, esp if your going from a sidekick to another phone or if you lose your sidekick and have to use another phone.
wifi and touchscreens all great recommendations for it
track pad rather then a scroll ball would be good

5mp camera with flash would be nice to see on it.
video and music syncing software similar to double twist would be cool

i sure hope so, i havent sold one or seen one sold since December 09.

There big and clunky, unreliable and have major service issues.  I do have a friend who has one b/c hes deaf and uses it all the time for texting, but has moved on to a g1.

Now g1's will have its problems but its alot more reliable then a sidekick, esp after i put Super D on it.

If they are to revive the sidekick they need to do some fancy marketing and pack a lot of hardware into their new phones.

phones 1/2 the size do 10X more.

they need to kick up the media/memory/speed/service/apps up a few notches, esp if it wants to compete with Android.

now... heres a idea.

ANDROID SIDEKICK 2010

Full Qwerty
Android 2.1 with some danger software on top
snap dragon processor
Swivel touch screen.
16 gb memory expandable to 32gb
5 or 8 mp camera with flash
720p recording
optical trackball or touch pad
noise cancellation
can be completely functional as full touch screen or utilize the keyboard for faster texting and games.
behind the screen is a mini kickstand so it would flip up normally like any other sidekick but then a kickstand comes out and props it up for movies or recording.

now THAT would get some sales, and it would give me a reason to carry a huge phone around.

Evil will always win, because good is stupid.

This thread is going to make a creepy return in 3... 2... 1...
I support anyone who brings about competition and innovation. Be it Google, Apple, HTC, Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, Palm, Microsoft, RIM, LG, Sharp, or anyone else I may have forgot. Variety is great. What's good for one person, is dead wrong for another.

Well this forum includes the Sidekick Slide, which is Motorola. This thread is about the next Sidekick to come out. Makes sense to me.

You mean "Danger OS" ;)

Its being called the "Sidekick Twist" so I think it would be appropriate to discuss here.

I think the point of this thread was to say something along the lines of, when the next SideKick comes out, what do you want it to include? Not, when the next device running SideKick OS comes out, what do you want it to include?

It's more about the name, than the OS.

T-Mobile owns that trademark and as a result, can do whatever they want with it. From putting it on a QWERTY dumbphone to a high-end smartphone.

T-Mobile really shouldn't be calling their high-end flagship a Sidekick. That brand name is damaged goods, and it elicits a bad reaction from many many people. It should be a G1 successor as the specs say, not a Sidekick successor. The HTC device will be well-built and good, something Sidekicks were never.

Might be a bit late in this conversation...my apologies, hehe; just wanted to share my opinion!

I love the 5 row Sidekick keyboard...haven't really seen any phones with it other than the Sidekick. I think the G1 has it, maybe?

I'd love to see;
• Touchscreen
• WiFi
• Lit trackball
• 5 MP+ camera, flash could not hurt
• Updated browser, for sure
• Threaded messaging would be nice, but have the option to turn it ON or OFF
• The messaging in Sidekicks are totally outdated, of course with it being on a different operating system, I imagine seeing everything revamped... including the messaging
• In-front camera
• Slimmer than any of the previous Sidekicks

That's all I can think of right now.  ;D oh and I hope they wouldn't call a Sidekick a 'Sidekick' without it twisting/flipping out like all the others, (excluding the Slide)
