I’m curious for those in the HD2 training; Did anyone ask about a WM7 upgrade and if so what was the response?

very good question. i hope somebody asked htc this question while training.

No, but I’m still curious as what was said and how the answer was phrased. We just had two Microsoft representatives in the last week come out and say no. I’m wondering if that is now being told to T-Mobile sales staff. I presume the answer is that the decision lies with Microsoft. One way or another, in the next few weeks somebody at T-Mobile should know.

i remember when the CEO of Htc was asked how come he couldent or he didnt make the hd2 an android device..
and his response was  something like he "had to take care of windows mobile" or something like that.

and now it seems like microsoft and windows phone 7 are not taking care of htc by supposedly not allowing the hd2 to be upgradeable to wp7.

i really dont care if its upgradeable or not because i like the sense of the hd2 and the current apps and support of the hd2 by the xda community and others. but if wp7 were to support the existing wm apps right out the the box then i would like the hd2 to be able to upgrade to wp7.

no matter what im still getting the hd2 the first day it gets released.

Just got the phone!  It is awesome, ...

Congratulations!! A non-technical question; how do you carry it around? Is it comfortable in a pant pocket or is it too big? I'm hoping it fits in a pocket, I hate belt clips. Although the electronics are great, portability is important.

Thanks for the information, enjoy the phone.

Sorry the way I worded my question.  Now that I read it again, bad tone.
Personally, even though the HD2 will be a great device even with 6.5.x, it certainly is not the last phone I plan on buying.  It will be good for a year or two.  Hopefully in that time, Series 7 will get shaken out and the next gen or +2 gen hardware will be out. Then it will be time to retire the HD2 for the next best thing.
Think ahead and think positively.

Of course with all of that said, if Series 7 turns out to be a flop and Windows Phone dies, it will probably be my time for Android!

Ok, Call me Cybill!  LOL!

I go thru the CSR training tommorrow, I'll try and get some pics during the training and post them.  I can't wait for this phone to finally drop.
Just because I don't give you credits, does not mean you did not receive exceptional customer service...

Just because the answer you have received from me is not the answer you wanted, does not make it incorrect.

That would be nice, although the subsidized price is not bad at all. I just don't want to give up my $5.99 tzones.

A third confirmation from Microsoft settles it I guess, no WM7 for HD2.

“For Windows Phone 7 Series we are enforcing a strict set of hardware requirements to ensure a consistently great experience for end-users and developers. While we cannot confirm that WM6.X phones that satisfy those requirements will be upgradeable, every Windows Phone 7 Series device will be upgradeable with improvements and features we deliver with subsequent Windows Phone 7 Series releases. We currently do not have plans to update the HTC HD2 to Windows Phone 7 Series.”

That is from MS.  I thought I saw something earlier this week that said it was up to the OEMs like HTC.

I was just at my local store and the guy would only say "the end of this month", though when I mentioned the 24th he kinda looked at me with that "how did you know" kind of look, lol.  He said they had already started the training there, and are hoping to get a live demo within the next week.

I'm thinking on checking this fone out when released but the camera and video scare me, bad reviews on it. Any thoughts on this?

If I have a flex-pay account do I qualify for the $199 HD2 upgrade? I have been with Tmo since November 2008 (16 months) and have had no issues at all with my account.
