I want to get a new phone within the next couple of months, currently have the G1, and am deciding between going back to Blackberry with the 9700 or trying out a new android device. They both should be released without pre-release at around the same time...

Blackberry 9700
PROS:
form factor
3.2 mp camera w/ FLASH!
Battery Life
Keyboard

Cons:
Blackberry OS
No touchscreen
Multi-tasking?

Motorola Cliq
PROS:
Android
5 mp camera
sliding QWERTY
Size (compared to G1)
Better Browser

Cons:
Battery Life?
5 mp camera w/ NO FLASH
Essentially the G1 but different form factor?

I really can't make a decision, any advice? Or other things I should consider? Havent had a blackberry since the original curve about a year ago...

Nothing really, I just think it pales in comparison to Android

i think the blackberry os is pretty good if not better than android. they both have there own strengths...and it shouldn't be a con for the 9700 to not have a touch screen

I personally think Android is a better os than blackberry overall. Android os is constantly improving and getting better by the day, but if you're more of a business person then by all means grab you a BB.

The cliq looks like it's geared towards teens, the 9700 looks rock solid.  I'm waiting to see a little better android device, memory, processor wise before I get my next phone, but if I had to get one today it would be the 9700.

I think of course Moto Cliq is rounded off social networking, but even if you aren't it is still Android and is overall really good. From what I have experienced Android is overall better than the Blackberry OS. It does have more Flash ROM, and RAM than the G1, os it's not a redesigned G1. I would go with the Cliq, but it seems the blackberry will most likely be way cheaper.

BlackBerry devices have mastered multi-tasking and the 9700 will be no exception. As for the battery life of the Cliq, I'm hearing its horrendous. The BlackBerry OS isn't as "fun" as the Android or iPhone OS but it is a very solid OS which I love. IMO I like it more than Android.

It depends soley on personal preference really. Some people may like the Blackberry OS more than the Android or vice versa.

I agree that some people might prefer Blackberry OS over Android, but that is probably a very small amount of people. Every person that I have spoken to that went from a Blackberry to Android has totally loved Android, including myself. Blackberry OS is great for business users, but it is very limited imo. Android is about openness, apps, great browser and being able to customize it any way you'd like. Seriously those people who say they truly prefer Blackberry OS have either not tried Android(Kickstar had a G1 for like what? 2 weeks??)or are truly Crackberry addicts.

I had the G1 for a month and didn't like it. I also test drove the MyTouch3G and it wasn't that bad. I still prefer the BB. I maybe a Crackberry addict but nothing beats my iPhone.

I have had my G1 for about a year now (Oct. 20th duh) and while I do love android it is just way too slow (I dont even have that many apps) and big...and i feel the cliq is just a revamped G1 essentially...great OS but ****ty battery life, clunky hardwear (we'll see about this, but it's definitely not better lookin than the 9700)...Before the G1 I had a curve...and while I don't think the BB OS is better than android, that device was solid and I loved it.
