I did a video to demo all 3 of these, since they are a heavy topic!

Good demo, showed many of the capabilities of all the keypads. I definitely prefer the HTC magic keypad to any other.

Thanks for the props.  I like the way the HTC Magic looks, but its not as accurate as the Touchpal.  Sorry HTC, but I had to put it to rest...I switched to the Touchpal keypad.  I really thought that I would not find a better one to use, but to me...the Touchpal helps me to go faster, and it feels in the correct words every time.

please help

I downloaded and installed the "main" app then the "english pack" - I then went into 'settings - Local & text' and selected 'TouchPal' (shows the green check) got the warning about "input method may be able collect..." selected 'ok'  then I go to home screen.

When I go to a field to input characters, the Android keyboard pops up.  What am I doing wrong?

Please, any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Uninstall everything.  Pull the battery off, load it back up.  Install the English pack first, then install the main app.  It should work for you...give it a try.

Have you long pressed in a text box yet and selected the touchpal keyboard?

When you see the green check in the "locale and text" part of settings, it just means that the Touchpal is "enabled" or available as one of the keyboards you can use....

Go to a text message.... before the keyboard pops up, long press in the text field and you will see an "input method" option as a menu choice, select that and then you can say you want to use the TouchPal keyboard instead of the Android default one...

Great vid.  Thanks for the heads up on Touchpal.  It's way better than the HTC keyboard and much improved on the android version.  Now, if only we could get some multi-touch love  :-*

I'm sorry i have to disagree with all i have to say the htc keyboard is way more accurate than any other one and it irritates me when I'm typing that after i space something touchpad guesses what word im going to write next and (almost)always wrong. I tried using the touchpad for a day and reverted back to HTCs keyboard. the only reason i believe the htc one is slow is being the firmware we're using and lack of rooting. If you look at htc keyboard demo's on the htc magic (non-tmobile) or htc hero there is completely no lag especially on the hero.

I respect your comments...and I really think its all about the user.  I really like the look and feel of the HTC magic keypad, but when I used the Touchpal keypad...I was able to type faster.  I am going to switch back to the HTC for a while...then give another thought about how I feel.  But like I stated earlier, the HTC looks a ton better....

thank you for the video, I downloaded the touchpal and I will see how it goes.  I upgraded to the HTC keyboard and it changed my life.  The android keyboard is just horrible.  hopefully I am equally impressed by the touchpal keyboard.

Android market.  download the main app and the english pack.  then go to settings - locale and txt = and make sure the check mark is green next to touchpal.  exit out and go to messages, and in the txt field press and long hold.  a box will come up click it and select touch pal

I have used all 3, and the Touchpal is the most responsive of the 3, I even like it better than the stock virtual key board that came with my unlocked Touch Diamond.

What happened to Better Keyboard?

Is that one not even under consideration?

It's the only one with themes... great looking keyboard, not sure how well it stacks up to the HTC and Touchpal as far as use.

Perhaps we need another video???
