Now i can understand some frustrations about not getting the hero, but the hero has the exact same specs as the rogers htc magic minus the 3.5 mm jack. Yes i can understand people saying that we should have gotten the 288mb magic but do you or i work T-mobile? Nope. Everyone called the hero ugly and epic fail, then when it was announced and people seen the software then omg its this amazing jesus phone. Lets get real, people only want the software because of its magic eye-candy and crap. Watch next year (or sooner) the phone will get triumphed by something else and so forth and so forth there's never pleasing anyone now-a-days. Im happy with my mytouch bam!

I agree.  The hero is still fugly to me.  And the Sense UI is not all what it's cracked up to be.  I would assume that it runs on top of the original android UI.  If that is the case, I can undstand why magic would need more memory to run it.  Our MT3Gs would run like molasses with Sense and that's kinda dumb IMHO.

I kind of see what you're saying, but at the same time, there's another side of your posting. For me, personally, I don't dig on the MT3G. It's nice looking and all, but it's a G1 without a keyboard. It didn't even debut with new software, just the Donut that was given out OTA and some more storage. Not a whole lot to celebrate in my book. The Hero is an amazing device from what I've seen in the research I've conducted. And anyone that says it's not a big deal would probably eat their words if they actually got to own one and use it. I have a problem with T-Mo because, next to Verizon, we seem to be getting the ****-end of the stick when it comes to mobile devices. Sure, we're getting the TP2, but so is Sprint. We've got the G1 and MT3G, but Sprint's getting Hero. We're getting the Morrison, but Verizon's getting that hella awesome Motorola Android device. It's not so much that there isn't pleasing people. It's that T-Mo is capable of getting a lot more than they are and don't seem too interested in bringing better devices to their masses. Of course, that's just the way I see it.

i agree with you and disagree with you. If you think about it software side it's not T-Mobile fault its HTC fault T-Mobile don't make sense ui or anything else and that goes for any phone as it is. Also T-Mobile never implied at any point in time this was a upgrade from the G1 this is just a better option with customizbility.  Also you have to understand lets say the G1 sold 5 million on T-Mobile  nationwide, T-Mobile have about what 35 million customer i think they go for the 30 mil until we can be able to sell high end phones when its worth it. Lets be serious now our service especially 3g wise is not capable of deserving high high end phone thats why i think they settle for middle-class phones. If you notice T-Mobile as a company is changing a lot they are increasing pricing for plans and trying to deliver better services because technology is the new front end everyone is wanting. So i can guarantee you like i said you going to be mad at T-Mobile now but i guarantee next year you will be happy with them just got to give the under-dog room to grow.

Those were all actually *really* good points. I honestly hadn't even taken any of that into consideration. I guess it is sensible to say "wait a year" and see what they come up with. After reading your post and looking back, T-Mo is making a vast amount of improvements. Slowly, but surely, which is most likely why I didn't take any of that into account. I'd just be pretty stoked if T-Mo got phones like the HTC devices other carriers have seen(Touch Pro, Diamond, Mogul, etc) and more recent devices like the Pre.

Add me to the camp of Android fans that are disappointed w/ the MT3G.  As has been previously stated, it's not much of an "upgrade" over the G1.  At the very least, TMO could have given us an Android phone w/ a faster processor or more RAM than the G1.  Hell, TMO even went so far as to DECREASE THE AMOUNT OF RAM FROM THE MAGIC for the MT3G here in the U.S.!  That really pissed me off.  I was looking for a reason to get the MT3G, but TMO just didn't give me one.  Plus, I can't stand the thought of not having my G1's keyboard.  Maybe I could learn to deal w/ the virtual keyboard if Android supported multi-touch, but a virtual keyboard w/ no multi-touch?  That just isn't an option for a person like me who texts/e-mails often and likes to do so quickly.

dude no disrespect but are you serious...what android phone out right now have a good processor like snapdragon or good enough ram? please don't say the hero if you do you didn't read my post ... like i said we don't know what happened as to why tmobile choose the low ram one until then nothing you can complain about its business here. Like i stated when more androids are available, plus snapdragon is accessible you just going to have to wait and see or use your current phone and keep it moving I'm not trying to be rude just blunt.

I'm sorry, but your post is both hard to read and doesn't make any sense.  I complained that TMO chose to follow up the G1 with a phone with very similar (almost identical) specs.  Why are you talking about other, hypothetical non-existent phones.  I just don't understand what you're talking about. Sorry.

basically in a nutshell tmobile don't make the phones so they choose the phones or are given phones. Basically there is no phone out right now that have what you need so why complain?

I know TMO doesn't make the phones, but they do choose the phones, as you say, and they chose a) the Magic instead of the more powerful Hero, and more importantly, b) they chose to DOWNGRADE the amount of RAM in the Magic.  They could have easily kept the 288 MB of RAM in other existing versions, but they did not.

but like i said "choose the phone" or "given the phone" you and i don't work for T-mobile so we don't know the business aspect of choosing the phones. That's why i said in earlier post you cannot argue this...and 288mb ram is still not that much of a upgrade from the G1 or MyTouch an upgrade would be the new sony phone...snapdragon and even more ram than 288mb and good gpu for gaming (which like i said again doesn't exists yet so just wait it out my dude)
