Unfortunately, for me, any new customer or upgrade requires a smartphone plan which the TP2 is and the tzones plan isn't. So i will have to pay full price for this phone to keep my tzones plan for data which should work for 3G.
are u sure it WILL work with my 5.99 internet (w/o upgrade)? that was my biggest question cuhz i dont wanna have to lose my grandfathered internet and have to either add the Total internet or the Web+MSGing bundle for $35

Is the screen recessed a little, even just 1-2mm, or is it completely flush with the outer edge of the device? I ask because I am unsure, that and how HTC's version of the TP2 has always looked like it had flush buttons but never really had them (camera angles, lighting, etc)

The screen is completely flush.  It's interesting the HTC version has that big chrome ring around it which actually becomes part of the face of the unit.  The chrome ends directly next to the buttons.   The edge of the screen on T-Mobile's version is very thin and does not extend onto the front of the device.  On the T-Mobile version the chrome is gone and there is a flat space between the edge of the device and the buttons.   I think this is why it looks so much less flush than the HTC version.  Even so the buttons on T-Mobiles TP2 barely protrude at all, it's really a non-issue.

This brings me back to those pics we saw a LONG time ago with the TP2 when it was first rumored to be coming to Tmo... the chrome on HTC's version was completely removed and was white, and there was putty all around it. They were experimenting with their prototype. My guess is that the chrome was removed to differentiate the TP2 from the iPhone, which is surrounded in chrome. Seriously.

How do screen protector's work in the iPhone and other flush screen devices? Wouldn't want them to be easily slipped off or have air get underneath from an accidental pick at the side of the protector

Sounds reasonable, it did look a lot like the iPhone with the chrome.

On the iPhone the screen protector fits 100% over the face of the phone but leaves a circular cutout for the home button.  On the TP2 it will probably work exactly the same way but there will be an area cut out for the 4 buttons.  There is no concern about air getting underneath in normal use.  I have seen some cases that can cause a screen protector to lit but this is easy enough to avoid.  Overall screen protectors work and stay on great on the iPhone, the TP2 should be similar.

I think T-Mobile didn't have to mess up the phone. I want to see how the AT&T/Sprint/Verizon differ from the Tmo version and the OEM Touch Pro 2 design.

BTW, I asked a tmo rep in the store, and he said the TP2 comes out August 3rd. That is a monday, so I don't know. Maybe the pre-order will start then. CC is still mum on the phone when you ask then about it. They just talk about the MyTouch 3G, and not wanting it to be around another smart phone.

They didn't mess it up, it's a masterpiece.  I hope you are right about August 3rd.

Something else I haven' talked about yet.  In my 45 minutes handling this phone the only fingerprints I noted were on the screen.  The materials used on the rest of the phone do not show fingerprinting which I think is terrific.  Other than a screen protector I won't be putting this phone in any sort of case.  I'll just use the included leather case which I did get a chance to check out, very nice!  Forgot to take pics of that, too excited shooting photos and videos of the phone!

Will the screen be easy to use, with out a stylus? Also, is it scratch prone?

I am surprised HTC was able to talk T-Mobile into getting the TP2, since T-Mobile has a high-end-phone-phobia.

T-Mobile HAD to come out with SOMETHING high end!  Do you really think they would leave out ANY demographic?  Come on!

I used it only with my finger during my 45 minute test drive, it was very easy to use.  Some things are easier to press with a stylus, that's just a Windows Mobile fact.  Not worried about if it is scratchproof because it will always have a screen protector on it.  Most HTC devices include a screen protector.

I know they had to. But you know T-Mobile. They like to pass up any high end phone. I am surprised they didn't go to with old TP.

Hello everyone. This is my first time responding to any forum.

Doc those are some good pics of the tp2. Those pics just made it easier for me to decide which phone I want. I was so undecided between this and the my touch. I hope the pricing is reasonable.
Ok who stole my captain and coke?

Thanks.  I was also trying to decide between those two.  It wasn't really a contest in my mind but I wanted to see the TP2 before I made up my mind.  After seeing the TP2, well the rest is history.

Which is a reasonable price for a device of this caliber, I won't object to paying that at all.

I don't have an issue paying the price. When I got my G1 that is the price I paid for it because I didn't qualify for the discounted rate. I know I won't qualify for it when I get the TP2. But oh well I will pay the price if I want it that bad. ????

Welcome to TmoNews! Glad to have you here. I would definitely get this over the mytouch. Pricing being reasonable? Not sure about that.
