I went into my local store today to ask about the Touch Pro 2.  Amazingly the rep I asked about it reached in his pocket and handed it to me.  He allowed me to use it for 45 minutes and take as many photos and videos as I wanted, I took a lot.  Unfortunately I only had my iPhone on me so the picture quality is not the greatest, but I did my best to get sharp shots.  I even remembered the fingerprints on the recent batch and cleaned the phone off for my last few shots.  One last thing, I have the original iPhone so I had to install a video app while I was at the store to get the videos, that is why they are low resolution-I figured they are better than nothing!'

The phone is nothing short of amazing and gorgeous in person.  All my concerns about color are now gone, I love it!  The phone feels like a precision instrument, build quality is off the charts!  It also felt amazingly slim in my hand, no concerns about being a brick at all!  It was thinner than my iPhone I had with me in its leather case.  Absolutely incredible device.

Please note the object in the first two photos with the phone is a lip balm in a longer tube than a regular Chap Stick comes in (it's all I had on my pockets!).  The tube is 3 3/16" long.

And the videos:

It looks as though they have changed the looks of the speakerphone on the back, the ones I have seen so far have been stretched down the back of the phone.

+5 for that! WOW... thanks for sharing these. I'm in love with this phone. Very glad to hear your thoughts on it feeling slim, great to hear since it supposedly is a brick based on specs and such. Was it really slimmer than the iPhone though? Isn't the iPhone pretty thin? (I could be wrong, don't own one)

You are very welcome, I love this phone so glad to help out.

It was slimmer than my iPhone in it's leather case combined.  Since I have been carrying that combination for the last 7 months the TP2 actually felt slimmer to me!  Out of its leather case the iPhone is certainly thinner.  Overall I was very surprised by how much it lacked "brickness" and compared to the original Touch Pro 1 it was markedly more slim feeling in the hand.

It does look a bit like chrome, doesn't it? CONFIRM?

Hehe, lacked brickness, I like that... I am still amazed it felt slimmer. I've known a few people with iPhones, see em walk around with them, and this just looks much thicker.

Keyboard felt just perfect, each key has a satisfying click but it is not excessive, just perfect really.

I did listen to the speaker by playing a ring tone and one of the built in songs.  The ring tone was an order of magnitude louder than my current phone, the iPhone (1st generation).  When playing a song it was clear and loud enough for any possible use I could imagine.  I wouldn't say it was amazingly loud but I only turned up the main system volume using the volume rocker ont he ide of the phone.  There might be individual volume controls that I didn't adjust.

There is no chrome on the buttons, that must just be the way the light reflected off them.  Another thing about the buttons is the amount they protrude off the face of the phone.  Images a few weeks back made them look like an abomination.  In reality they are almost flush with the screen surface, not quite but almost.

Its you, I'm pretty sure its the same finish as the rest of the front, just raised, so it catches the light more.

+1 to you, and to mystic (for writing the article, nicely done)

Maybe I should drop by my local store and see whats going on there, take some high res pictures.  They have let me play with unreleased phones before.

PS, the video is actually pretty good.  The video compression using cycorder is better than the stock apple one.

Let me be clear I am comparing it to my iPhone INSIDE a leather case.  The TP2 is slimmer compared to my iPhone PLUS the leather case.

Most iphone cases, especially leather, add 3-5 mms to the iphone.  I would actually think that the iphone, plus case, would land around 17 mm thick, while the touch pro 2 is 16.6 mm thick.  Then there is the fact that the touch pro 2 is one device, so it may seem slimmer than the iphone with case, though they could be the same size.

Not big at all, fairly slim actually.  I am going to link you to a page about the case:

http://www.dlo.com/Products/slimcase_Prod.tpl

They have a gallery on that page which will show you it from many angles.  It is a fairly accurate impression of the size of the TP2.  The TP2 was slightly less tall but for the most part similar in size all aroiund.  I have never once thought that my iPhone in that case was bulky and this is the impression the TP2 gave me in the hand.  I was really surprised at how nicely it fit in the hand, not a brick to me at all.

Exactly what colors are the phone? My G1 makes the pictures all grainy so I can't see exactly.

Front (screen) :  black/brown can't exactly remember but leaning towards black
Side of screen: dark brown
Keyboard surface and sides(not keys) light brown/beige
Keyboard keys and area beneath them: dark brown
Rear: dark brown

Let me just say that they color scheme is super classy and as many concerns as I had, they were all gone once I had it in hand.  I am now a fan of the T-Mobile color scheme more than the international silver/black/chrome version.

Thank you for those pics and videos! Was that a little door/covering for the micro sd slot on the left side of the phone? And on the upper right side of the phone, are those reset buttons? Or microphone holes.

The little door is for the microSD card, I opened it and closed it a few times to try it out.  Kind of hard to get off, easy to get on.  I do believe one of the little holes is a reset button, but I cannot see in my photos with 100% certainty and the memory is a bit vague on that one so don't quote me on it.  The other hole is probably a mic since the phone has 2.

I have also seen the TP2 in the store. Hands down the TP2 is better than the Magic. Its not that the MyTouch 3G is a bad phone... it is just that the Touch Pro 2 has so much more functionality. It has the best keyboard, smooth interface, and of course the best part is its hackability via XDA-developers forum.
