What shadow plan is this?  is this the same as the tzones $5.99 plan?

This is the plan that I use for my Nokia E71 and I absolutely love it.  My A-GPS and google maps are priceless.  nokia messaging in the 3.0 firmware update, works far better and the push is quite good now I would say

T-Mobile Services / New Access Point for T-zones plan
« on: November 05, 2008, 12:54:00 pm »
Hi Guys,

I was over at howardforums and I came across this

http://wiki.howardforums.com/index.php/T-Mobile_APNs#epc.tmobile.com_APN

So basically I updated my tzones access point and made a new one called tzones2 but now I used the epc.tmobile.com without any proxy settings and it seems to work.  I also notice that this seems to have more open ports than the original proxy of tzones.  My nokia chat and nokia beta email were able to work via this new access point whereas before they would not work via the proxy.

anybody else discover this or have this on their phone?  nokia or not...it doesn't matter...smartphone or not...just trying to see if tzones still has hope

I think I am in the same boat as curlin...

Ok...I am confused...I have a nokia E71 and the only problem I have now with tzones is the use of A-GPS other than that, I have no complaints. I use texting more than IM and as far as IM goes, I am waiting for MOBJAB to perfect the Wireless Village system so that I can use my built in IM app

Do I go ahead and upgrade to the $19.99 data plan now or should i just risk the $5.99 tzones and then later get stuck with paying $24.99.

I have the unlimited messaging option for $9.99 on my family plan so I don't need the unlimited messaging.

Mine is coming on Monday

I talked to a CSR today as well since I will be using the G1 on a different line than I originally ordered it on.  She doesn't even have the 3g data plan in her system she said, which is weird since they do have other 3g phones

She said to call back once I have the G1 and then I can make sure the other line on my account will have the 3g data plan added to it.

I don't know but for me turn by turn gps is not a big deal. I just use my google maps and  my location as well as GPS work great.  I can zoom in and get a great idea as to where I am at or where I need to go.

As far as traffic jams go, it still helps with highways since you get the varying colors so you can just check in advance and go a different way.

G1 Discussion / Re: Why are IM messages counted as text messages?
« on: September 25, 2008, 12:32:38 pm »
I got unlimited messages myself so I could honestly care less...text messages alone I can knock close to 2000/month...Imagine if my phone had a native tmobile app for IM.

Honestly speaking, I think Google did the smart thing here releasing it the way they did.  There is saying that goes biting off more than you can chew.  What does google do well right now?  We all know about gmail, gtalk, gcal, maps, etc and how its all linked together based on your email.

So they designed an platform, the OS and focused on what they know best.  Now you can call this a cop out but at the same time its genius.  Look at google as a new company that has never done an OS or at that a mobile OS and now they boom pop something out.  At least with that fruit company, they already have a working OS so you would expect a level much higher than crap when apple released an iphone but with the simple feature of copy paste missing, it does tell you a lot about their OS.

I honestly think that the 3G network will be solid since its pure 3G not shared with anyone or anything else.  HTC already makes a great phone and really none of their phones don't have a 3.5mm jack.  So buy not including it they were able to use existing hardware they already have and pass the costs on to tmobile and us the consumer.  Google, do I really need to say anything here.  Please tell me of a crap google software.

I think the reason behind the app answer for everything is quite simple, Google hasn't created that type of app yet and rather than wasting time on it, like I said before, they stuck with what they knew.

Also the A2DP will be out soon, as soon as the security issue is resolve. I was suprised to see gtalk on there as this has a similiar issue.

All in all, I can't wait to get it but I didn't sell my nokia.  My lil bro will take this phone and I will stick to my "normal" non touch phone with full qwerty.
