The Circus (lounge) / Re: What is the Best computer manufacturer?
« on: December 31, 2008, 10:13:34 am »
I agree about the yelling part that's why i always get the extended wrraties for laptops, on desktops it's easier/faster to fix yourself than to deal with tearing it down shipping it off somewhere and waiting (if you know what you are doing).

I love Dells care.

Apples are awesome... and I love the new manufaturing process.

Self Built computers are cool, but I don't like the fact that if something goes wrong, I can't yell at someone else.

Running with 4 Laptops in my house with 4 desktops,  And a pile of non working equipment as well.

HP Pavillion Laptop (going on 3 years, only issues were physical damage, the Best Buy Complete Care warranty  takes care of any issues there. Only bad part is they send the computer off to Minnesota to get fixed so I have had down time. Solid machine, Use it the most 15" screen, Photoshop, dreamweaver, Multimedia, love the screen size for eiting pix and web)

Acer Laptop (About a year, not my favorite, D@** Vista!! Screen has issues more than likely with the ribbon cable screen flickers until you wiggle the screen)

Sony Vaio Laptop (9 inch screen Going on 6 years, I have had to replace the keyboard 2 times but that is over six years with excessive use, SOLID CONTENDER, Love the compact form, great mobile computer!!)

Dell Insiron Laptop (Going on 7+ years, I replaced the hard drive about 2 years back, Dell's Complete care is unbelievable, i had that for the first year it was in house 24 hour resonse time, I would call in for stupid things and they would come and fix issues regardless of inane stupidity of my request, You know I used it well in the last 6 months of its coverage, I basically replaced everything but the hard drive and memory in last 6 months[got my $ worth out of the warranty] I still use it or that is my daughter does, CONTENDER, It has been all around the globe, Asia, middle east, Europe,Central America, South Pacific, Virgin Islands, etc)

Have 3 Hp laptops a gateway and anther sony sitting around as I just don't have heart to pitch,

I have been Happy with most of them except the Acer, could be  the Vista??

Desktops all but one (the e-machine hand me down) I have built.

General Android Questions / Re: ANDROID HTC TOUCH (Running on Sprint)
« on: December 29, 2008, 10:37:11 am »
it was not a perfect working model but i was still impressed to see it up and running on another htc device, the OS was almost fully functional, Market was not working due to it being T-Mo and he was running on the Sprint network, but the functionality was all there up and running from the SD card.

General Android Questions / ANDROID HTC TOUCH (Running on Sprint)
« on: December 29, 2008, 10:29:42 am »
Had a guy come in yesterday, he was wanted information on the G1 (He was digging for info, first time he had ever seen an actual G1). Well i pulled mine out and was starting the run down and for never seeing one before he sure seemed to know a lot about it...

He was really interested int the graphics and the display, seemed odd until he pulls a handset out of his pocket...

It is an HTC Touch running on the Sprint network, the handset is still running Windows Mobile but he has an app called Togga that he boots and the Android sytem is then booted from the Micro SD card, the entire OS is contained on his Micro SD. All the apps are stored and accessed from there as well.

The reason he was interested in the graphics and display is that the Touch's display is slightly smaller and throws the graphis off slightly (jumbles text/graphics). I was expecting to find he was a IT or tech related individual. NOPE!! He was a construction/contractor. He said he picked up most of the information of "XDA-Developers". Needless to say I was impressed. I did not have the ability to talk in great depth but he said he was coming back and I will pick his brain more.

G1 Discussion / Re: Upgrading question. Help me
« on: December 28, 2008, 01:03:40 am »
if it accidently gets put on fathers line go into a store or call care and switch itis not rocket science, you can do an upgrade on any line, there are no rebates on the g1 so it does not matter which phone line you use the g1 on,

T-Mobile Services / Re: Buyer's Remorse - Physical Damage
« on: December 26, 2008, 10:25:34 am »
If a care rep knows there is damage they should not set up a return (policy), also the $100 restocking fee is the base charge, higher end phones may be assesed a higher restocking fee...

I think that trying for a exchange (due to your damage to handset) is unethical and wrong, they wouldn't have the eq. prrotection if they thought "out of warranty exchanges" were a viable alternative.

Viper, did you tel the rep that you damaged the phone before setting up an exchange??

So the micro-usb is the one on the Pearl 8100 and Motorola W490 right?

490 and 8100 use mini usb
flip and 8900 use micro usb

i saw on the vid they said had a better yet smaller screen is size and easier access to mem card +new battery the only ups?  it kind of seems like comparing the bb 7100 and 7105   the differences will not make me schill out some coin to switch at this point  maybe i will have to see it to feel the need to switch...  between my curve and g1 not feeling it  [yet]

3G? that would move me. touch maybe...

Any care reps out ther ever heard of this, this is new to me and sounds shady...

A note to everyone who accidentally damages a phone thats not covered under warranty:

A phone that is water damaged/screen cracked can easily be replaced. You don't need insurance but the 1 yr warranty is needed. All you have to do is call 611 & tell them the problem & ask for an out-of-warranty replacement. It will be $100 dollars. Yes just $100 dollars. In my opinion insurance is a waste because when you add insurance you cant go through T-Mobile they automatically transfer you to asurion. Then they expect to pay which is more than the $100 dollars & pay right there. Without insurance I have had an easier time getting phones replaced. I have never had a screen crack or water damage. I have had cosmic damage but it was covered. Had a sim door physically break & it was covered. I feel that the best option is too go through T-Mobile directly. I had insurance once it was a nightmare I had just needed a phone replaced cuz I fell on Halloween & the phone flew in the road & it got ran over. So I had to cancel it in order to get my phone replaced for free.

The Circus (lounge) / CHRISTMAS BESTS!!! (Memories etc.)
« on: December 25, 2008, 11:35:37 pm »
So what is memorable for you this year? Was it a gift, something given? or a an event/memory maker?

For myself things were deffinately different this year, financially we did not go out and do as much also i never got around to putting up the outside Cristmas lights this year. I have many kids and have a huge extende family that gets together each year. This year the presents were not as important i recieved boxers a shirt and cologne, no biggy, the best part to me was getting my one year old tub toys, she loves them ad played in the jacuzzi tub for over an hour laughing hysterically the entire tim present given and memory made...

Also, are there any memories from Christmas past tha you remember that have a lasting impression?

Read the blog watch the video link below

http://www.tmonews.com/2008/12/blackberry-8900-release-date/

you can wait or take a look at the flip, i like it better than the 8120 for the keyboard size, i like a open face more than a flip but the keyboard is a little small for me. i am a curve/g1 user an like full keyboards,

i watched the video on the 8900 and wondering about the differences. different charger smaller format, smaller screen faster processor, no 3G, multiple buttons on top one for mute the other for stand by, supposed better sound?? this is not enough to make me upgrade unless i get an awesome deal.

Input please...
What smaller screen? Different charger? Where did you hear this? Also I don't want a different charger because that means I have to buy a new car charger!
