The day is finally here! Just yesterday, Apple released the much awaited iOS4 and shortly after the iPhone Dev Team released a new unlock and jailbreak for OS 3.1.x and OS 4.0.

NOTE: For now, the redsn0w beta release supports only the iPhone3G and iPod Touch 2G at today’s 4.0. It’s still a beta, so you’ll need to let Cydia reorganize, reload, and update after using redsn0w.

INSERT YOUR T-Mobile SIM CARD INTO YOUR iPHONE 3G BEFORE FOLLOWING THE DIRECTIONS BELOW!

1: Download iOS 4 for your iPhone 3G here and save to desktop

2. Update to iTunes 9.2 if you haven't already: http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/

Then in iTunes, restore to 4.0

3. Download redsn0w 0.9.5 BETA for Mac here
Download redsn0w 0.9.5 BETA for Windows here
4. Launch Redsn0w 0.9.5b5-3 and point it to the original iOS 4 firmware file for iPhone 3G to proceed (download link in step 1)

5. Now select “Install Cydia”, "Enable Multitasking" and "Enable Wallpapers" and click NEXT

6. Now make sure your device is both OFF and PLUGGED IN to the computer before you click “Next”.

7. And then just follow the directions, its quite straight-forward

8. After it is done jailbreaking, your iPhone 3G will reboot automatically

9. Now to unlock OS4, you will need to launch Cydia. Let it update first then after it is done updating it will ask to restart. After restarting, launch Cydia again. Go to Manage>Sources. Touch on “Edit” and then on “Add”. You will be prompted to enter a URL source. Type in: http://repo666.ultrasn0w.com and press “Add Source”.

10.After installation is completed. Search for: ultrasn0w in Cydia and install this application. This app will automatically unlock your iPhone 3G so that you can use it with any GSM carrier.

And you're done! You now have an iPhone 3G jailbroken and unlocked on the newest OS 4.0!

If you guys have any problems, don't hesitate to ask.

And as for 3GS users, the necessary tools will be released soon.

UPDATE: Apple has released OS 4.0.1 to address signal calculation issues for the iPhone 3G/3GS/4.

Redsn0w and Ultrasn0w will still work

You can use this redsn0w 0.9.5 (download link above) to jailbreak 4.0.1 on iPhone3G. Just point it at the 4.0 IPSW (download link above)

(Yes – point it at the 4.0 IPSW even though you're at 4.0.1).

This will also hacktivate your iPhone3G at 4.0.1 if you haven't already been activated by iTunes. Install ultrasn0w if you need a carrier unlock (and in the USA, remember to turn off 3G mode in Settings→General→Network).

There has been a lot of frustration over the past few days regarding the up/downtime of the site. Rest assured I’m as frustrated as all of you, and it pains me to see the site strain so much. That being said, we’re making some sweeping changes tonight with hopes to rectify the problem, allowing for all of you to come back and comment, argue and discuss the happenings of the T-Mobile world. It’s been a long road for us with server troubles and while the reasons behind the mess is due to constantly outgrowing what we have, we know how frustrating it is for you and for us.

With that in mind, you might see some troubles tonight, which of course will hardly be noticeable from the rest of the day. However, your comments might not auto-populate so don’t be alarmed or concerned, they’ll be back sometime tomorrow, fingers crossed. Thanks for your patience and your loyalty and stay tuned, we’ve got some GREAT stuff coming. Contests anyone?

T-mobile Deals / June 19th, The Mother Of All Fathers Day Sales?
« on: June 09, 2010, 03:27:31 pm »

Look…it’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s a Father’s Day Sale Extravaganza. We’ve all been trying to figure out just what exactly is in store for June 19th. We’re still working to paint a total picture of what exactly is happening but that day, but the above image should give a better idea of what is going down. As always this is this is all subject to change.
These images are none other than the scripts for two commercial spots, filmed last week and airing sometime before the 19th of June. While our sources have stated some additional details that may not be included, we’re only going with what’s actually on the picture itself. Is this rock solid information? No, of course not, nothing is rock solid until we can say, “this is rock solid” but we’re confident that the above images are real and actually scripts for commercials regarding the Fathers Day June 19th promotion.

So while it looks as though new lines, or new family plans are the real sell here, there are still plenty of unknowns regarding this promotion. As with any other rumors, we’re still trying to figure out fact from fiction. For now, hopefully the above images will get some buzz going and allow T-Mobile to pick up some customers and actually begin a real fight for third place.

Apple / iPhone 4
« on: June 07, 2010, 03:03:46 pm »
Brief Overview of the iPhone 4:

*Design: 9.33mm thick (24% thinner than iPhone 3GS). The “thinnest smartphone on the planet.” The much-discussed “lines” on the leaked prototypes are part of the antenna system. iPhone 4 is made of stainless steel and scratch-resistant glass on the front and back that is reportedly 30x strong than plastic.

*Retina display: 3.5-inch display with an impressive 960×640 pixels (4x more pixels than iPhone 3GS, 78% of the pixels on the iPad). 326 pixels-per-inch. 800:1 contrast ratio (4x better than 3GS). IPS technology for improved color and wider viewing angle. According to Jobs, “Once you use a Retina Display, you can’t go back.”

*Battery: Equipped with a larger battery that offers 7 hours of talk time on 3G, 6 hours of 3G browsing, 10 hours of Wi-Fi browsing, 10 hours of video watching, 40 hours of music listening, and 300 hours of standby.

*Processor: Powered by an Apple A4 chip (the same as the iPad).

*Additional specs: Up to 32GB storage. 802.11n WiFi. Accelerometer. GPS. Compass.

*Gyroscope: “We’re adding a 3-axis gyro, and we tied the gyro, accelerometer and compass, and gyro together for six-axis motion sensing. It’s perfect for gaming,” said Jobs. Jobs illustrated the gyroscope with an on-screen Jenga-like game where a tower of blocks swayed back and forth as the Apple CEO removed individual pieces from the stack. The gyroscope will provide “much more precise movement,” Jobs added.

*Camera: The iPhone 4’s camera has been upgraded from 3-megapixels to 5-megapixels. The device will also add an LED flash. The camera will have a 5x digital zoom and tap-to-focus functionality.

*Video recording: iPhone 4 will record HD video at up to 720P and 30 frames-per-second. The device will feature advanced on-board video editing by way of a new iMovie app ($4.99). Video recording will also include tap-to-focus functionality and “one click sharing.”

*iBooks: The iPad’s iBooks is coming to the iPhone and iPod Touch in iOS4. You will be able to wirelessly download purchased books to all your iOS4 devices free of charge. iBooks will automatically sync your place, bookmarks, and notes.

*Front-facing camera & video calls: By way of “FaceTime,” iPhone 4 is capable of video calls in portrait and landscape modes anywhere there is WiFi using either the front or rear-facing camera. Currently, video calls appear limited to iPhone 4 to iPhone 4 connections.

*Colors & pricing: iPhone 4 will be offered in white and black. $199 for 16GB, $299 for 32GB (WITH NEW AT&T 2 YEAR CONTRACT)

*Availability: iPhone 4 is set to hit stores June 24th, and pre-orders begin June 15th. iOS4 will be available to iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and iPod touch (1st gen. excluded) users on June 21st.

Discuss anything related to the new iPhone 4 coming June 24th.

Verizon Wireless has been sued by a customer who alleges that one of its debt collectors threatened to blow his house up over a $308 unpaid bill.

Al Burrows, 45, said Verizon had already given him 90 days to pay his bill when he received a call from another bill collector.

The second bill collector acknowledged the payment plan, Burrows said, but still pressed for immediate payment.

"I am gonna blow your m*****f****** house up," the bill collector said, according to the lawsuit filed with New Mexico's First Judicial District Court. Listen to Al Burrows' call with a Verizon representative here.

Burrows, who lived in Las Cruces, New Mexico at the time, acknowledged that he owed Verizon Wireless $308 on an account that he had opened on behalf of his stepson, but said he worked out a payment plan as soon as he found out about the debt.

Ardi Rizal isn't even out of diapers, but he already smokes around 40 cigarettes every day, according to Metro.co.uk.

The 2-year-old Sumatran boy was given his first cigarette at 18 months by his 30-year-old father, Mohammed. Now, he throws tantrums if he's denied his two-pack-a-day habit, according to his family.

"He's totally addicted," said Ardi's 26-year-old mother, Diana. "If he doesn't get cigarettes, he gets angry and screams and batters his head against the wall. He tells me he feels dizzy and sick."

The overweight tot uses a toy truck to get around instead of being active with other children, according to the report.

The boy's disturbing habit hasn't escaped public notice in Sumatra. Concerned officials offered to buy the family a car if Ardi quits.

Spirit HAS BEEN RELEASED!

Spirit is very similar to Blackra1n. This will ONLY JAILBREAK iPhone/iPod OS 3.1.3 and iPad (Both WiFi & 3G Models) on OS 3.2.

What's Spirit?

    * Spirit is an untethered jailbreak for iPad, iPhone, and iPod touch on the latest firmwares.
    * Spirit is not a carrier unlock.
    * If you currently are using a tethered jailbreak, you have to restore to use Spirit. Do not upgrade if you use an unlock on an iPhone 3G or 3GS. (You can, however, restore to 3.1.2/3.1.3 if you have SHSH blobs for that version.)

Requirements

    * Any iPad, iPhone, or iPod touch on firmware 3.1.2, 3.1.3, or 3.2.
    * An activated device: one not stuck on the Connect to iTunes or Emergency Call screen.
    * Any version of iTunes 9 (including 9.1.1).
    * Syncing with iTunes before trying this highly recommended.

Step-by-step guide:

Step 1: Download and install the latest version of iTunes (CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD)

Step 2: You will need to update via iTunes to the latest firmware: iPad OS 3.2 for iPad and OS 3.1.3 for iPhone/iPod.
NOTICE to iPhone 3G/3GS owners:

Step 3: Download Spirit For WINDOWS ONLY: http://spiritjb.com/win
Download Spirit For MAC ONLY: http://spiritjb.com/mac

Step 4: Put Spirit in 'Windows98/Me' compatiblility mode.To use win98 compatibility mode, right click on spirit icon, go to properties. Click compatibility and select "Windows 98/Me". Next, Launch Spirit and press the "jailbreak" button.

Step 5: Let the app do its thing and wait for the app to show “Jailbreak Complete!” message. At this point, wait for the iPad/iPhone/iPod to automatically reboot.

Step 6: And your DONE! Cydia should be added to your homescreen!

To Unlock (iPhone ONLY) Follow these directions:

1. Launch Cydia.

2. After installation is completed. Search for: ultrasn0w in Cydia and install this application. This app will automatically unlock your iPhone 3G/3GS on OS 3.1.x/4.0 so that you can use it with any GSM carrier.

If you guys have any questions or problems, don't hesitate to ask!

UPDATE: The below Convo is proven as a fake! Expect the Spirit Jailbreak "soon". (I'd guess probably sometime this weekend).

The "Spirit" userland 3.1.3/3.2 untethered jailbreak by Comex will be releasing tomorrow. "Spirit" will jailbreak all iPhones, iPods, and iPads. This is an untethered jailbreak, so you will not need to connect to the computer to rejailbreak after you reboot or power off. This jailbreak is a userland jailbreak. So Apple will patch it up ASAP. DO NOT UPGRADE WHEN APPLE RELEASES THE FIRMWARE AFTER 3.1.3!!!!! It will patch the "Spirit" jailbreak and you will have to wait until June when Apple releases the new iPhone. SO DO NOT UPDATE!

THIS IS ONLY A JAILBREAK, NOT AN UNLOCK! THE UNLOCK WILL PROBABLY BE RELEASED THIS JUNE FOR FIRMWARE 4.0

Additionally, make sure that you backup your 3.1.3 SHSH Blobs. This will let you restore back to 3.1.3 because after Apple releases a new firmware, you can no longer restore to older firmwares (ONLY 2G and 3G can downgrade).

If you haven't already backed up your SHSH in Cydia for 3.1.3, you can manually backup your SHSH blobs using AutoSHSH.

This tool is only for Windows

1. Download AUTOSHSH here: http://www.mediafire.com/?dznm5a5mkcw

*NOTE* You don't need a jailbroken iPhone/iPod/iPad to get your SHSH.

2. Next, put your iPhone/iPod/iPad into recovery mode (Hold down home and power button together until Apple logo appears. Then release the power button, but continue to hold down the home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" logo.

3. Launch AutoSHSH (download link in Step #1)

*NOTE* You need to be in recovery mode and have internet connection to use this tool. You will also need to have Java installed.

4. Now, in the AutoSHSH program, press the "Grab My SHSH Blobs Automatically" button

5. You will get a Pop-up telling you it has successfully found your SHSH blob. It will then ask you to save the SHSH file. You will need to save that file so you can use it later.

6. Save the file to somewhere where it'll be safe.

And that's it! You've successfully backed up your SHSH blobs. MAKE SURE TO DO THIS BEFORE APPLE RELEASING THE NEW FIRMWARE AND BEFORE TOMORROW!

If you guys need any help, don't hesitate to ask!

Below is the "Spirit" jailbreak being demoed on the iPad and the iPhone/iPod on the latest 3.1.3 firmware.

According to Forbes, Apple sold 8.8 million iPhones in the first quarter, as opposed to 8.5 million mobile devices sold by Motorola. This positions Apple as the #1 US phone manufacturer.

Additionally, Motorola has dropped out of the top five worldwide mobile phone manufacturers ranking, according to analysts IDC, with RIM taking their place.  The move – which pegs Nokia in first place, followed by Samsung in second, LG in third and RIM sharing fourth place with Sony Ericsson – is being described as a sign of growing smartphone demand.  Motorola, who have been a member of the top five since IDC began tracking worldwide quarterly figures in 2004, shipped 8.5m handsets in the three month period at the start of 2010; in contrast, RIM shipped 10.6m.
