I just downloaded this app.  It works great.  For some reason I was under the impression that Facebook didn't work with T-Mobile.  w00t!

I can't wait for the opportunity to upgrade to this device, although I hope for the driftwood with the optical trackball.

Edit:  Driftwood is a terrible name.  It makes it sound like a piece of garbage.

I tried calling customer service on Monday but even T-Mobile employees get holidays off.  I wasn't surprised.

Then I contacted Blackberry support yesterday.  The nice lady got my internet working pretty quick.

Then I tried to setup my email.  No go.  I get an error "We apologize, there was an error trying to access the service."  I get this error both online and on my BB.  So I called BB support again and they said that they were having issues with the Pearls and had to open a trouble ticket for me.  It should be resolved in 48-72 hours.  :(

The office got me an enterprise license and at least my office email and the internet are working.

This maps thing is pretty cool.  I don't know how many times this would have come in handy when I was lost.

BlackBerry Discussion / Re: Blackberry Data Plan
« on: May 24, 2009, 09:12:12 pm »
Thanks.
I was hoping there was some simple setting that I messed up.
I remember when I first got the phone many months ago that I found some setting to turn off the data services so I wouldn't accidentally use it and incur data fees.  I was hoping there was something that I could switch back.

I checked My T-Mobile.com and it says "
You have a BlackBerry device but you do not have any BlackBerry® services. To take advantage of BlackBerry e-mail and Web capabilities, please add one of the BlackBerry services highlighted below."

I'm guessing something got screwed up when she set it up.

I did notice that "edge" and "uma" are now registering as "EDGE" and "UMA" which I thought meant my services were upgraded.  Weird.

BlackBerry Discussion / Blackberry Data Plan - Enterprise - Gmail
« on: May 24, 2009, 06:25:37 pm »
I ordered the Blackberry for Enterprise data package on Friday.  The customer service rep told me it would take anywhere from 2-48 hours to become effective on my phone.  Yesterday afternoon, I got a text saying the change had been made on my account.  When I try to browse the internet it keeps telling redirecting me to the "Upsell" page to get the web2go.  Why can't I surf?

When I go to my browser settings, the only options I get are t-zones or hotspot browser.  Should there be a regular browser setting?  Where do I go to set up my google email?  I tried doing it online but My T-Mobile kept giving me an error and kicking me out to the main T-mobile.com page.

Help, so far 3 days of what I am paying $30 a month for has been wasted.

Get a Flexpay plan and set up the EasyPay to avoid the $5 monthly charge.  There isn't any activation fee either.

You can get the Samsung t639 for $30 online right now with a free bluetooth headset.

That's great news I hate Sprint.
Have you ever had service with them before?

Yes, when I lived in Chicago.
I never had so many dropped calls and times when service was not available because all the towers were full.  It was ridiculous.  We paid the ETF to switch to AT+T at the time.

UMA is the best thing that T-Mobile has going.
I can't live without it because the reception in my house with AT+T went from 1-2 bars to full UMA and perfect call clarity.

I knew I waited too long to pull the trigger on that feature.

It's pretty crappy that they just reduced your coverage area.  Cell companies should be improving it.

T-mobile Deals / Re: Suggestions: New Line with 1 year contract?
« on: May 13, 2009, 01:47:50 pm »
Can't you get a 1 year contract if you bring your own phone to the deal?

I was told if I added a line in my family plan with an unlocked phone that I already have, I would still be required to sign a 1 year contract.  It sounded pretty lame to me.

T-Mobile Services / $9.99 email plan?
« on: May 13, 2009, 01:42:50 pm »
Didn't there used to be an email only plan that worked with gmail for $9.99?
I've been with T-Mobile less than a year, and I guess that plan has fallen by the wayside for the $19.99 email and internet plan.

T-Mobile Services / Re: International use of UMA
« on: May 13, 2009, 01:41:24 pm »
I have the Pearl 8120 and I used the UMA for free in Sweden and Finland at several houses where I could access their personal wifi routers.  I made sure that I had the mobile network disabled and only the wifi working to make sure I never accidently showed up on a European network and used their services.  (Text messaging worked great on UMA also.)

In the U.S.  I have had limited success using the hotels free wifi, but there is a thread on how to get around that, but the rewards aren't worth the trouble for me.

T-Mobile Services / Re: What's your "real" coverage like?
« on: April 17, 2009, 02:20:49 pm »
T-Mobile just built a tower about 1/4 mile from my house, so the reception is awesome.  I may even be able to ditch the UMA, but love all the extra free minutes and crystal clear calls.

Too bad it doesn't work if you don't have a data plan, even if you have a wifi connection.  Boo!

i wouldnt buy it if it did

LOL.
I agree.  I'd rather have a G1 with UMA.

T-Mobile's 'great' 3G network?  Compared to who?

Yea, the T-Mobile 3G coverage is greatly lacking, like in my city.
I expect the June dates for a lot more cities launching 3G, with more scheduled in Q3 and Q4 could possibly substantiate a 3G iPhone.   I personally think they would be better off launching the first generation iPhone now.

Ah, I feel ripped off now.  I wonder why they would pull out.  Cincinnati Bell is probably giving them too much competition.  I guess I'll never see 3G.

I wish T-Mobile wold just come in and buy out Cincy Bell.

is Cincinnati Bell even good?

Yes.  Their coverage is the best GSM here, their plans are a little better (free incoming text messages), they don't require contracts, they currently have a deal where all their phones are free, and they have wifi calling.
I would get them, but we can not text message to Sweden or Finland (Wife's family) with them.  AT+T and T-Mobile are the only 2 carriers where the messages go thru.  Deal breaker.
