Customer Service / Great deal for renewing contracts on Family Plan
« on: October 30, 2011, 02:18:52 pm »
I have a really good, grandfather family plan which cannot be beat by other carriers.  Since I did not want to switch to Sprint or Verizon,  I figured I would lock in my plan for 2 more years.  If the merger goes through and AT&T does not honor my plan,  I can always get out of my contract. If they do honor it, I have my great rate for at least 2 more years.  When I called in to ask about my contract end dates,  I was asked why and said I was thinking of taking my out of contract lines somewhere else. I told them I was due for an upgrade but didn't necessarily want to commit because of the pending AT&T buyout.  Without asking for anything, I was then offered the following deal: a $180 dollar credit for renewing my 5 lines and another $250 credit toward the purchase of any phone.  I ordered the GS2 and, in addition,  I was allowed to also submit the $50 rebate.  End result, I already have a $430 credit on my account and a new GS2 on the way with a $50 rebate to submit.  In my opinion, not a bad deal.

The Wishlist Forum / Re: Blackberry "T" slider coming to T-Mobile??
« on: July 07, 2010, 09:28:47 pm »
There has been a lot of recent coverage on various blogs about the 9800.  Most still talking about AT&T exclusivity at first.  Anyone hear anything new about it coming to T-Mobile?

Customer Service / Re: Rally to change ETF policy!
« on: June 23, 2010, 09:27:39 am »
Shameful seems an appropriate name for you.  Found your other post where you are complaining about not being able to cancel data:

"what other carrier? sprint's is included, i spoke with vzw yesterday and they said i could      drop it if i got another phone. they also said i could get another phone from ebay or where ever. i was not aware that when i signed up i agreed to pay $30 data for 2 yrs.  i already can't wait to get out!"

I do not work for TMobile and never have but I find your complaints lacking credibility and they should hold you to your obligation.  They front the cost of whatever smartphone you purchased when you agreed to stay for 2 years (including a data plan) and now it looks like you are just looking for a way out of an obligation you voluntarily entered.  You probably want to simply walk away, keep your phone and sell it on ebay so you can make a profit.

How about you just act like an adult and either live up to your 2 year contract or pay the ETF!!

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out in TMO Land!!  Did anyone get any "cool" toys?

I got a Blu Ray DVD player with Wifi and a hand me down (or is it hand me up) BlackBerry 9700 after getting my daughter a MyTouch Slide for free yesterday, saving myself $180 -- thanks TMobile for that one.

I don't know if anyone else noticed but thank you for putting a stop to the cat pictures.  Dog owners have been feeling discriminated against for long enough from TmoNews. LOL. Cat lovers - started your hating.  (Cat people are almost as bad as iPhone lovers!!!)

T-Mobile Services / Change in early upgrades?
« on: March 23, 2010, 09:48:41 pm »
I just got off the phone with retentions dept and the rep. said that there are about to be changes made to the 12 month upgrade policy on smartphones for family share plans.  It was suggested that if I wanted to take advantage of current 12 month upgrade option I do it right away (within a day or two).  Anyone hear anything about upcoming changes?

T-mobile Deals / One year contracts?
« on: February 10, 2010, 11:43:56 am »
The new story on the MyTouch 1.2 pricing talks about 1 year and 2 year pricing.  Can you do 1 year contracts again? I thought they had been eliminated.

I was in a TMO corporate store yesterday and they are running (again? still?) a trade in program (through 2/28/10) when you purchase a new Blackberry -- $75 for trading in your old Curve or Pearl or $50 on any other phone.  Phones can be from any carrier. $199 less $50 off through Sunday less $75 for trade in = new BB 9700/Bold 2 for a net of only $75.  Not bad at all.  (See www.recyclerebates.com/tm-rim with access code: flipyourphone.)  I have not done it yet but I have used this program in the past.  Only downside is you have to mail in your old phone (you print out a free shipping label from the website) and then wait for a check and even if you return your new phone during remorse period, there is no way to get your old one back.  Happy Holidays!!

You are making me feel so old!!! (46)  I clicked on the link about "oldies" and you are talking about things my kids watched.  Classics are Bugs Bunny, Mickey Mouse, Road Runner, Tom and Jerry, Magilla Gorilla, Flintstones, etc.  A good time reference for what qualifies as a classic should be things that were on TV before there was cable TV and Cartoon Network/Disney/Nick hadn't even been a thought.

I was told the same thing.  Even though I have more than a year to go on contract for family share plan (5 lines), they would allow a switch to EM+ but your contract obligation would stay in place until it was over.  In other words, you would get new pricing but would not be out of contract until old contract time is up.  To switch they would only charge $35 for first two lines ($70 to switch all 5 lines) and that would be waived because of AAA discount (but you lose the discount when you switch to EM+).  Even with that, still not worth switching from my grandfathered plan since I would lose MyFaves.  I would only save a few $$ per month, have to risk overages on 1500 min. plan and would lose subsidized phones.  As soon as I would upgrade any of my lines I would start actually paying more (assuming $20 to $30 per month for 20 months on each new phone you purchase --obviously could be less if buy through eBay, etc.). Losing MyFaves became a deal killer for me.

I called twice today to ask TM CSRs about EM+ Family/1500 with unltd text and internet.  I was told twice that lines 3-5 would share the 1500 minutes but they would also receive unltd text and internet for only an additional $5 per line ($119.99 plus $15 for next three lines) for a total of $135 plus taxes, etc.  I thought I had previously seen posts/blogs about the additional lines being more that $5.  Anyone know if this $5 for lines 3-5 is correct?

i went online and tried to order your exact situation, you are close, but it is $5 per line for lines 3, 4, and 5. If you want the internet on lines 3,4,5 then it is an additional 10$ per line for those lines. so it will look something like this: $119 for 1500min. T&T&W (even more plus), $15 ($5 each for lines 3,4,5), $30 ($10 each for lines 3,4,5) for web --->   119 + 15 + 30 = $165 per month

Thanks for your response.  I thought the CSRs were wrong (which is why I even called a second time but got the same answer). It is frustrating to not be able to find info on TM's website.  None of the charts for Family plans had listings for cost of lines 3-5.  TM CSRs tried to tell me it was there and when I asked them to show me they walked me through and were then surprised when it was no longer on the site.  This is why I called a second time to "confirm " only $5 for other lines with unltd txt and internet.  It now makes no sense for me to leave grandfathered plan since I would pay basically the same w/o MyFaves and no subsidized phones.  I am under contract through early 2011 and can always change later if plans change again or MyFaves are added.

Per someone else's suggestion, I also asked the CSR to make note of long-term customer being upset about losing MyFaves on new plans.  Hopefully lots of "complaints" will get someone's attention.  The CSR was also surpised they droped MyFaves since it was so popular (I think even among the TM employees).

I had a problem with my upgrade date not resetting on T-Mobile's computer system after I returned my G1 so I could not get the 8900 early without paying full price.  Loyalty said I am eligible but they could not place order through their department before 2/11.  Because of this, they apologized that others were getting 8900 earlier but said they would make it worth my while including making it instant rebate instead of mail in.  I hope this will actually happen.

Blackberry 8900 / Re: New Customer and the 8900
« on: January 30, 2009, 06:21:27 pm »
Loyalty said they could not ship the 8900.  I had previously ordered and returned a G1 and the T-Mobile system could not be properly reset to show I was eligible for a full upgrade.  I recently dealt with Loyalty and got the free My Faves (thanks TMONews) and they noted the system to show I was eligible.  When I asked about ordering the 8900, they told me to call back into Loyalty on 2/11 to order.  I then tried the next day to order early through a regular CSR and she was willing to let me order it but I had to be transferred to Loyalty because of the upgrade problem.  When I was transferred back to Loyalty, they said they could not put the order through on their system.  The rep tried to place the order but it was bounced.  They apologized and said I would have to wait until 2/11 and they would make it worth my wait (automatic rebate instead of mail in and probably reduce price as well).  When I said that didn't make sense since the regular CSR was ready to ship to me but couldn't get me the full upgrade, they tried again and ended up apologizing but saying there was no way for it to ship from their department.  I am curious if anyone else was able to order through Loyalty.
