Locked Posts / T-Mobile looking at a possible Sprint bid
« on: September 13, 2009, 10:38:22 am »
Just came across this article today and found it interesting. I know there have been rumors that T-Mobile was looking into purchasing Sprint, but I have never heard of anything concrete. I don't know if this would be a good idea or not, but thought I would post the information. Interested in hearing people's thoughts, so sound off below.

Has there been any new information about the @Home v2 that has been rumored?  I just haven't read any new fresh information about it.  Thanks.

Does anyone have the code number they could look this up by?  I have tried four different times, and no reps seem to know about this, or be able to find it in their system.  Thanks.

I agree that the reviewer should have disclosed during his review, but to his/her defense, it was discussed during the QA and forum section that is was a prerelease version of the phone.

Like the post above me, wired took that review from a member on andoridcommunity, who later, in detail described the over heating issue, memory leak, and slow application loading, and for all these issues he later said they where caused by user error or the edge network he was on.  Sounds like the OS is as solid as we all had hoped.  Shame on wired.

No Hotspot@Home?  Its not a big deal and a future firmware revision could also remedy that.

I was under the impression that UMA was a hardware solution rather than a software solution.

G1 Discussion / Re: Acceptable design?

I guess I have always like a little eye candy to go with a nice functional device, and not for everyone else, but for myself.  My biggest gripe about this phone is that HTC has the nicest devices on the market, and than they are going to take a few steps back in terms on design with the Dream.  That just didn't make much sense to me.  I do like the ideas of a trackball, touch screen, and a slide out keyboard, but they needed to put all that in a nicer package.  I really wish that Tmobile/HTC/Google would release some solid information and everyone could stop speculating, but I guess this is all we have for the next 1-2 weeks.

I would have to agree.  If the reference design that we have seen thus for the G1 is the actual design that is going to be released that will be a big let down.  With the the phones that HTC is releasing (Diamond, Touch Pro, HD, etc), the Dream will be by far the least aesthetic phone this will have on the market.  I just hope that the reference design that we have scene thus far isn't going to be the production model that gets released, but I have a bad feeling it going to look pretty close to the reference design.

@spum, I agree that this phone needs to be functional, but there needs to be a balance between function and design, and I just feel that this phone has missed the mark.

Also, have they been able to SIM unlock the 2nd gen iphone with software yet?  I haven't been following that one as it's not something I'm interested in.....

Not yet.  They have been able to jailbreak it, but not unlock it.  With that being said though, the OP shouldn't really worry about the 3G iPhone unless he wants GPS, instead just get the generation 1 iPhone for a discounted price on ebay or craigslist.

The 14 day policy, is that from the time you get the phone in your hand, or from when you order the phone?

Anyone have a confirmed date on this release?  I am glad to hear it will be sometime in the near future because I am waiting to upgrade from my BB 8700g to the new Android phone (once released), and don't want to be with out 3g with the new toy.

Does anyone know if the July 2nd is still the target national release date?
