Locked Posts / HTC Glacier IS the G2 (is there any evidence to the contrary?)

I'm curious why after the benchmarks were released, everyone jumped on board thinking that the HTC Glacier would be the first dual-core phone on the market. The benchmarks listed on the same released image showed a Samsung Galaxy S phone with nearly identical benchmarks. Now that we know the G2 has a brand new, super fast qualcomm processor - that's said to be very similar to Samsungs Hummingbird chip, doesn't it make sense that maybe "glacier" was an early code name for the G2?
I'm planning on buying the G2 when it comes out (as I've loved my G1 - and a physical keyboard is a must) but I'm curious if anyone else has an alternate view of those numbers or any other information on a separate release of the "Glacier". It seems clear to me that it's the same device - although rumors regarding project emerald hinted at two different phones.
