Is it a brand new #? The caller ID will show as the last account the # was active under until it has been active on your account for a while. I have seen that take up to a month.  If its longer than that then somethings messed up....

One time I had a Flexpay rep that had to do a conference with a Prepaid rep because they didn't know how to port a prepaid # over to Flexpay.  It was the most hilarious thing I've ever heard over the phone with customer care..... 10 minutes of them trying to talk to each other in English and not understanding what the other was saying.  You can imagine what that sounded like.

And as for trying to get to Postpaid Care, good luck, most Postpaid reps are not dual skilled and will transfer you back to FlexPay lmao.

Lol before we had the Flexpay Retail Support line, I used to call into General Care and beg and plead with them to help me and not transfer me to Flexpay Care (aka Absolute HELL)...

Most partial discounts don't exist anymore. 90% of the phones get an $18 discount off the full price, which is then nullified by the $18 upgrade fee. There are a few phones that get between $12-$30 off the full price, and the BB Curve 8520 and Touch Pro 2 get almost $100 off the full price (they are the only 2 decent partials anymore) but that's it.

Yeah, sounds like someone really screwed up during your activation because tentative accounts are created just prior to activation.  Most of the time accounts exist in that status for a whole of two minutes or less depending on how fast the RSR or Sales rep's systems are loading.

That is kinda screwy that they screwed that up.  Generally that doesn't happen, I hardly ever have to see or deal with tentative accounts, except when dealers call in occasionally lol.

Yea sometimes Watson freezes up during an activation and we got far enough that a tentative account was created. When we try to log back in, it then won't let us actually activate the line and we have to call into customer care.  Watson really is a terrible system.  We need Samson so bad....

T-Mobile Services / Re: i changed rate plans and they extended my contract
« on: November 26, 2009, 05:58:29 pm »
??? Adding data has never resulted in a contract extension. It's only when you upgrade, change the rate plan (not anymore), or accept some type of special promotion.

They are supposed to have you go through an automated process that informs you of the 1 year contract and has you type in your phone number to confirm it. If they didn't do that, then there was no electronic signature and the contract is not valid. If they never had you do that, you should call back and ask them to check if they did the electronic signature. If it was never done then they should take the contract off because you were never informed of it and never signed for it.

That would all be up to the manufacturers, and I don't think they would see a point in spending the extra money making devices compatible with different OS's.  I doubt we will ever see this happen.  99% of phones are designed specifically to work with 1 OS.

T-Mobile Services / Re: Is there a family data plan for T-Mobile?
« on: November 25, 2009, 09:15:49 pm »
The family Even More Plus plans have the talk/text/web option which has the web for $40 for the first 2 lines and $25 for each additional line. So it would essentially cost you $90 for internet for 4 lines.  That is the cheapest possible way of getting smartphone data on a family plan though.

Yes, before the Even More plans launched, any rate plan change started a new 1 year contract from that day.  And also they removed 1 year contracts altogether from our upgrade program, you have to either buy it at full price or 2 year contract. Even the 2 year contract upgrade prices are pretty pathetic though, you're better off buying a phone at no contract price.

Sidekick Discussion / Re: Why are SIDEKICKS still all out of stock?
« on: November 13, 2009, 05:27:05 pm »
They might as well just throw out the rest of the sidekicks and stop supporting them once the current contracts are up.  Sidekicks are so useless because the only good thing about them is the keyboard so they are good for texting, but you HAVE to pay for data service for it to work. And the internet blows on sidekicks.  I can't see a reason for anyone to buy one...

PS  Can anyone tell me of a difference between the Behold and the Highlight, other than the appearance and the megapix of the camera?

Highlight has a slightly more responsive touch screen. That's the only difference I know of.

Flashback. Back when the behold first came out it had web2go & its own platform w/ screenshots when it got a makeover. Ppl started to hack & make full HTML possible later T-Mobile removed Web2Go from it.

Ok but the official data feature for it has always been the smartphone data.

Which is real strange, because the Highlight and the Behold are pretty much the same phone internally, I think.  At least all the Admin codes and Internals Passwords match up.  The Hightlight came with the full HTML browser that cam with the OTA update to the Beholds.

Yea I have no idea why the Highlight was made less and the Behold and Memoir stayed at the high price.  Both the Behold and Memoir are discontinued though, so maybe they just decided to make whatever they can off them while they're still around.

In the beginning it required web2go however later on since those phones took advantage of full html then T-Mobile began requiring smartphone data. However Web2Go can be used for the phone still.

The smartphone web was always the right feature for the Behold, but Web2Go worked on it for a while until T-Mobile blocked it.  I don't know why everyone thinks the $10 Web2go is for the Behold, yea its a dumbphone, and yea you can get the $10 web to work if you know what to do, but Behold and Memoir have always been the $25 (now $30 on Even More or Legacy plans) web service.  Highlight on the other hand, started off needing smartphone data and was changed last month to work with the $10 Web2Go.

Customer Service / Re: 1-Year Phones on a 2-Year Contract
« on: October 26, 2009, 12:34:12 am »
It isn't a 6 month warranty, but it can't be called lifetime either. Once t-mobile stops supporting a phone through the warranty program, it doesn't matter if they have the extended warranty. The customer is basically out of luck. They also will not offer an alternate exchange in place of the old phone in most cases. For example, I tried to do a warranty claim for a magenta razr a while back, and I found out it is no longer supported through t-mobile's warranty program, so it didn't matter that the customer had the extended warranty on their account, their only option of getting a replacement phone was to upgrade.

So the feature can't be said to give the phone a "lifetime warranty", it will last until a totally arbitrary date depending on t-mobile's inventory of that particular handset....

If you think about it, for anyone new joining T-Mobile, it won't make any sense to sign a contract again.  I thought up an interesting idea... If you pay for the normal subsidized price up front and put the rest on the 20 month EIP with the even more plus plans, you will save money monthly on virtually any combination of phone and plan.

For example: Instead of paying $25 up front for a mytouch and paying $25 a month on the bill, pay $150 up front and that will lower your monthly payment to $18.42 a month for the phone.  $18.42 + $79.99 (EM+ unl everything) = $98.41 a month.  However, if you do the 2 year contract, you also pay $150 for the phone, and your bill is $99.99 a month.  In this case it is only $1.58 in savings a month, but this would probably be the most extreme case (one of the most expensive phones and highly susidized phones) and it proves that in virtually every case, the EM+ plans WILL save you money no matter what!

I am liking this new setup.  Another cool thing with EM+ is that without the contracts and subsidies, there are no upgrade fees, data requirements, mail in rebates, etc!

Im gonna do another example just for fun! Take a BB 8520.... Customer wants that phone but only wants voice and texting.  They want the discounted price of $129.99 but they dont want the data plan (and if data requirements stay the same, the new $10 unlimited text is not enough to be used for the data requirement).  SO if the customer gets the phone on an EM+ plan, they can pay that advertised price of $129.99 up front, and pay $48.94 a month ( 500 min, unl text, + $8.95/month phone installment). Or, they could do the 2 year contract, still pay $129.99 for the subsidized phone, and pay $79.99 a month (minimum EM price with unlimited text and data requirement).  Now why would someone pay an extra $31.05 a month AND be stuck in a 2 year contract, stuck with a $30/month required data plan, AND have a $200 termination fee if they cancel?!?!?!

Even More + looks to be pretty awesome compared to Even More!!! New customers would be stupid to go with a contract with this available! Existing customers with grandfathered plans on the other hand.... thats a whole different story....... I know how people are with their "FREE PHONES!" every 2 years and their old ass $19.99 60 minute plans LOL.

(EDIT: This is assuming that T-Mobile will continue to allow you to put a higher amount down when buying a phone and have the remaining balance divided into 19 payments, rather than forcing you to break it up into 20 equal payments.  They currently let you put a higher amount than necessary down on the 4-month EIP, so I don't think that will change.)

Like I said, I hope they made the prices better than that, but I know for a fact that those prices are in order from lowest to highest, and it looks like these prices won't be as good as everyone was hoping for :(

Maybe the whole point of Project Dark was just to simplify the rate plans and roll out the 20 month installment plan...

Yes, sadly. I am guessing it will be $80 for unl everything on EM+, $85 or $90 on EM. :(

However, they could have modified the plans since that screenshot was taken... Let's all hope that is the case!!
