Received the new phone, worked perfectly...until I got the RC33 update, then it stopped working again.

It's a pain because I update my blog with mms messages and have to type out the whole address which makes it inconvenient, not to mention updating Twitpic.

Is there anyone at Google I can notify about this bug?

Well I called TMo to complain again and they're sending me a replacement phone. Thought I should post in case anyone else has this problem.

Nobody?  Seriously?  So this is a problem with just my phone?

G1 Tech support / Re: Lanyard?
« on: February 13, 2009, 10:31:45 pm »
Maybe the lanyard comes with a holder/pouch that you slide the G1 into?

Ever since I received the RC33 update, when sending an MMS my G1 will not auto populate an email address in the To: field from my contacts.  For instance, if sending an MMS to abc@123.com, I used to just type "ABC" and see the whole email address, touch it, and it would auto-populate.  Now I have to type the whole email address to send an MMS to email.  The MMS goes through and everything, and I KNOW I have these emails in my Contacts, so I'm not sure what the problem is.

I talked with a TMO tech support feller and we did a hard reset and everything, still to no avail.  Is anyone else having this problem?  Any ideas?  Thank you.

G1 Discussion / Re: T-mobile sending out updated batteries?
« on: December 28, 2008, 11:30:55 pm »
I called to complain about my battery back in the beginning of December, and the TMobile rep told me TMobile sent out a memo to the Tmobile employees saying they will offer a bigger battery for free to G1 users through the phone warranty, and she specifically mentioned it will be similar to what happend with the Shadow.  I have no idea what happened with the Shadow and it's battery.  Oh and she made it sound like the offer would be for people that called in to complain, not for EVERYONE as that would obviously be a huge hit for TMobile's bottom line.

I know I'm a nobody on here but that's what a TMobile rep told me.  We'll see what happens.

Android market discussion! / Re: New E-Bay Application!!!

Exactly what I was thinking.  It's nice and slick, but it's HUGE!

I'm not a fan of dedicated apps for something the browser can do--even if the browser does it more poorly.

I got my first "low storage" warning this weekend and I'm not at all happy with it.

It does more than what you can do through your browser. For instance, it popped up a notification for me to let me know about a bid I was watching that was ending in 15 mins.

I ended up winning the bid and loving this app!

G1 Discussion / Re: NEW BATTERY FOR THE G1??
« on: December 01, 2008, 11:44:54 am »
I spoke to the smartphone techs and they told me that it was an issue that they were working on and that HTC is working on getting "new improved" batteries to G1 owners.  They had no timeline but they said that we would be getting a new battery in the future.  They also refused to send me a new battery.

I just got off the phone with a TMo tech and she said TMo will be offering new improved batteries to G1 peeps this month through the warranty replacement plan. It won't be advertised but she said it's coming this month. She also siad it will be similar to what happened with the Shadow.

Not sure if that means the process will be similar or the larger battery or both, but she said to call and complain about the battery later in the month and they'll take care of us G1'ers.  Hope that helps.

Development Questions / Re: App Ideas
« on: November 23, 2008, 05:20:14 pm »
I would like a Fantasy Football application that keeps track of how my players are doing.  Ideally I would be able to tell the program how many points to assign to my player's performance since every Fantasy Football league scoring is different.  It would be nice to have multiple teams saved also, since my team "plays" against someone else's team every week, so I'd be able to update the players on team 2  to correspond with whomever I'm playing that week.

At the very least it would be nice to have one page that just shows the stats of all the players you choose instead of the detail I mentioned above.

I'm sure something like this is being worked, it's just they'll have to charge for it since I think the dev would have to pay a company like STATS inc for the live stats.

It's just proof that a large percentage of G1 upgrades came from the teenage, sidekick crowd.

My favorite one is the "Pray" app.  Someone posted "Notice catholism [sic] is the only religion 'peddling their wares'?  This faith is about as useful as this app.  Does it include child molestation pamphlets?"

I was thinking of posting a review for the Bible app:

"SPOILER ALERT!  Jesus dies at the end!  And then rises!"

I thought that would have been funny, but I was too lazy to actually D/L it and review it.

Well, maybe it's cause it's Android 1.0, but I noticed my GPS is MUCH faster, along with my phone in general, etc. etc. after I restart.  An app that restarts the phone at a certain time every night (customizable of course) is much needed.

Great idea.  I was just thinking how much of a pain in the ass it is the reboot it every day.  I was having a problem with the web search on my G1 and T-Mobile recommended restarting it every day to give it a fresh start and to close all the programs.

Sure it's only a minute or two of my time, but in this day and age everyone wants things instantly - me included.  Any T-Mobile employees reading this?  Suggest it to your manager please!

The Circus (lounge) / Re: Olivia Munn as a G1(sexy)
« on: November 02, 2008, 07:07:10 pm »
Olivia Munn sucks.  Yes she's good looking, but it's obvious she reads everything from the teleprompters and doesn't give a rat's arse about the stuff she's talking about.  I'd rather have someone that actually cares about games/gadgets like the chick on X-Play on this channel.

G1 Tech support / Twitter Problems
« on: November 01, 2008, 03:00:53 pm »
I'm having a problem sending Twitter updates from my phone.  Now that I have my G1, it seems the updates I send only get posted successfully once in a while.  I receive updates all the time but updating for myself is the problem.

Anyone else having this problem?

G1 Tech support / Re: anyone else tired of this messaging program?
« on: November 01, 2008, 02:59:06 pm »
I like the system they use, however I am starting to get annoyed with how it's slowing the phone down, and agree with your statement about talking like 10 seconds to delete a larger thread.  10 seconds is a long time to just stand there and wait for your phone to be operational again, I'm not joking.

G1 Discussion / Re: keyboard backlight app
« on: October 24, 2008, 12:28:07 pm »
boring black?  lol.  I love the black one.  but the bronze does look sharp, sucks to hear it's hard to read the keyboard sometimes.

No offense meant by the "boring black", just my personal opinion since every smart phone is black.  I certainly wouldn't be embarrassed to carry one around :)

G1 Discussion / Re: Tip for websites that load slow/bad on the G1
« on: October 24, 2008, 12:24:35 pm »
What's the best mobile/iphone site for sports news/scores?  ESPN doesn't really have a mobile presence without downloading an app (for iphone), and espn.com is way too busy for a mobile device.  Sportsline.com is similar.

I know I can download the Football app from the Market, but I want one site I can go to where I can find the World Series box score, and click on something else for a couple football scores.  Anyone have a suggestion?

Oh I use mobile.yahoo.com for any Yahoo stuff, like fantasy football, and even Yahoo mail since the email app on the G1 doesn't have a lot of features.

Android market discussion! / Re: What IS Your Favorite App So Far?
« on: October 24, 2008, 11:59:43 am »
I'm no power user so I mostly use PicSay and AnyCut.

Picsay for sending silly pictures to people (yes I said silly, what of it?)

AnyCut for turning on/off wifi and 1-touch dialing.  Good times!  Looking forward to January when the devs really roll up their sleeves! Texas Holdem please!

Android market discussion! / Re: Weather Channel VS. Accuweather

Weather Channel works better for me, in Accuweather the temperature was almost unreadable (black on a dark background) so I got Weather Channel and it's worked great thus far.

Agreed, I'm trying to stick it out for the full 15 day return policy or whatever it is, just to see if I get used to it, otherwise I may have to go with the boring black...but a bad design for sure, great idea 4thephil, a toggle would make it usable again.
