im not a big cell phone camera user but with my new baby and all the cool car events Ive been goign to lately.. maybe I can put this camera to good use...
did anyone figure out how to use the panoramic shot?? got the phone yesterday and havent had a lot of time to mess around with it. tried a few different things and havent figured it out yet.

Nexus One / reception problems on the nexus one?

just got my nexus.. upgraded from a g1. my reception seems not nearly as good as my g1 was in certain areas..
for instance, while im sitting in my office at work.. the g1 had full signal on the 3g network. right now.. the nexus is in and out from edge network to maybe 1 or 2 bars of 3g.
another thing ive noticed.. the phone seems to heat up more then other phones while charging. anyone else notice this?

I said that $40 is an exageration..
next to nothing=$52 a peice for the Mytouch slides.. they resell them seperate make lots of profit.. sell FREE with new line yadda yadda. how do the mfgs sell a device less then 3x what it cost to make to their retailers?
see what Im getting at? same goes for everything.. not just phones. there are ways to break down cost of product..
take car sales for an example... cars have an MSRP, dealer invoice, holdback, then what the dealership actually pays for the car. The MFG is making money right off the bat selling the cars to the dealerships.. how? because their invoice price or COST of unit is inflated to a retail price. sure it includes their charge for promotion costs and what not.. but the mfg gets paid from the retailer not the new owner of the car. the dealership sells the car over the price they paid the MFG to earn a profit.

Ok.. it might not be $40. maybe im exaggerating a bit even tho im sure they arent paying $174.. that might be a retail price for that spec part. the price u or I might pay if we wanted to design our own phone..
im not trying to start an argument nor am i phone building expert.. im just saying that even at $329 they are making about a 80-150% profit. There is soo much money in phones and phone sales it is ridiculous. I have several friends in the phone retailing buisness.. these guys are paying next to nothing for some of the brand new devices.

i really doubt it cost more then $40.. you cant compare the prices we would pay for these items.. they buy in major bulk and build in chinese sweatshops. marketing/advertising and certifications are what cost the most.. no argument there. there isnt a whole lot of advertising on this phone to begin with. they mightve broken even or came out on top a bit worst case scenario.. but definetly arent losing money.
the people who bought the nexus reading this thread probably makes up 1% of the total amount of n1's sold.. the rest paid the 600 or signed up with the plan and did it the way they were supposed to. (not facts.. just giving an example. dont quote me or hold me to it lol) I told my friend who reads endgaget that i was doing this.. hes never heard of tmonews.com and didnt really read into the fine print to think of this. hes the average consumer, if you will.
if anything.. google set this loop hole here to make us think we were getting a great deal so we would jump on purchasing the phone. thus boosting their sales. its just another marketing strategy that i see in sales everyday. I wouldnt have bought the phone if i had to pay the $600 or upgrade my line. im still hoping that they dont charge me the $150 fee. 0.o

this is my first post and im not trying to sound like a jerk.. so please dont take it that way....
Do you really think google is losing money selling this phone at the lowest price of $329? How much do you think it cost to make this phone? tons in developing the phone.. maybe. They most likely bought the phone design from someone like HTC (im sure someone know on here) and then it costs maybe $40 if that to make each phone..
with first time ventures and limited runs such as this phone was.. its safe to say google made a point not to invest much into this incase it failed or was not profitable. even if they took a loss.. its as simple as writing it off as a tax deductible.
BTW.. I just got my nexus yesterday with the same procedure. Cancelled the line same day. Told them I think I changed my mind to the Vibrant.. they didnt give me much issue. the lady actually told me that I was smart in making the change lol. im saving my upgrade for the Vision. : )
