Has anyone gotten any sweet loyalty deals lately that they want to share or pm me?

The phone is dead. Over on XDA, someone put in an insuranace claim on a Slide and was offer a G2 or a Garminfone, because the phone is no longer available from the manufacturer,
Probably about another 2 weeks.
They now have a new root method for the Slide now and it is easy, took all of maybe fifteen minutes to root and flash and I am now running CM6 and loving it. This phone just got so much better.
Ok some questions about this rooting buisness....
when will 2.2 root be out? what is the website? Will it be faster than official update? Other than no sense ui what benefits does rooting have? Can you un-root? How dangerous is it (im pretty good with computers, jailbrok mytouch when they first came out haha)? live backgrounds?
sorry for the amount of questions but I got to get to the bottom of this haha.
grrr sense ui just crashed
2.2 vanilla for root users will be best under Cyanogen. CyanogenMod 6 (which is vanilla stock 2.2) will be out in the next week in beta form. The final release will probably take an extra 2-3 weeks. Max. If you wait for the Sense UI update from T-Mobile, it's gonna be awhile.
Check out XDA-Developers forums and look for the Espresso sub-forum, and check out the forums on cyanogenmod.com. Also; I will be posting links and instructions on here if no one beats me to it. No need to worry about that.
In terms of release speed and actual performance, yes it will be faster.
Rooting allows you to theme and mod deeper than home replacements. Tethering is easier. Certain apps need root access like Font Size and set cpu. You have control over your CPU and will most likely be able to overclock your myTouch Slide processor to 800MHz (it's at 600 now). And most importantly, choices. If I want to use Sense, then I will flash a Sense ROM. If I don't, I won't.
Yes, you can unroot. Usually done for sending the device back to T-Mobile for warranty or repairs.
These days, bricking your device is a lot harder than it used to be. But you need to follow directions very very carefully and don't be reckless. It is still possible, but I've never had a problem.
Live backgrounds work fine. They smash on battery and etc. but they are nice for showing off.
