The official word came out today.  Well, at least the official word that we have to wait longer.

We are in close communication with T-Mobile to ensure that eligible devices are upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich in the coming months and will provide updates as we have additional details to share.

BOOOOOO.  Common TMO!  So, we have 2 to X months to wait.  Sheesh, I'm beginning to think I need to root and throw on a ICS Rom that's devoid of TMO's stuff now.

Engadget reporting that ICS updates are being pushed now.  I suspect it's carrier based, so any of you TMO people start to get yours?

Galaxy S II / Re: Is the battery supposed to be like this?
« on: February 16, 2012, 12:01:46 pm »
Hello. I just came from a Blackberry Bold 9700 to my first Android, this Galaxy S II. However, I'm befuddled by the battery life.

I can be surfing the web and watch my percentage of battery drop with each passing minute. I bought 3 of these for the entire family, and it seems all of them are like this -- if you're USING the thing, it seems, you're going to get an hour worth of battery out of it. Does no one find that somewhat weird?

I could use your battery experiences.
I also just came from the Bold 9800 and I have to tell you, I too don't get as much battery life from it.  But to me it's very much worth switching.  I hated the Blackberry.  The hardware and OS on the bold really was horrible.  With a little of power saving tips you should get some good life on that device.  But having such a more advanced device does require a bit more power.  It's definitely a trade off and I for one am glad to have it.

T-mobile Deals / $25 in apps for Windows Phone users
« on: November 22, 2011, 05:21:31 pm »
Microsoft is giving people a $25 Prepaid App card when they buy a new Windows Phone between 11/2/2011 and 12/31/2011.  Unfortunately T-Mobile has pretty much sold out to Google and is carrying a token Windows phone that really isn't very impressive.  BUT, in case you have gotten your HTC Radar after the 2nd, go and get your $25!

T-mobile Deals / "Magenta Saturday" sale
« on: November 17, 2011, 01:17:04 pm »
Looks like T-Mobile is going to try and get a jump on the Black Friday craze and have a sale a week earlier.

Check it out on their "Magenta Saturday" promo page

It's not like any of their other deals, mainly just discounts on phones.  However, there's a catch:  You have to switch to their "Value Plans".  If you have a classic plan you have to switch to the new plan.  I'm not sure what the differences are other than the obvious price points, I'll let others talk about that.

Here's a list of the "down payments" for each phone in the deal:
  • Samsung Galaxy S™ II - $49.99 after $150 MIR
  • HTC® Amaze™ 4G - $49.99 after $150 MIR
  • HTC® Radar™ 4G - $49.99 after $50 MIR
  • BlackBerry® Bold™ 9900 4G - $49.99 after $50 MIR
  • T-Mobile® G-Slate™ with Google™ - $49.99 after $250 MIR
  • T-Mobile® myTouch® Q - $0.00 after $50 MIR
  • T-Mobile® myTouch® - $0.00 after $50 MIR
  • HTC® HD7 - FREE after $50 MIR
  • T-Mobile® Sidekick® 4G - @29.99 after $50 MIR
  • Samsung Exhibit™ II 4G - $0.00 after $50 MIR
  • LG DoublePlay™ - $49.99 after $50 MIR
  • HTC® Sensation™ 4G - $49.99 after $100 MIR
  • BlackBerry® Torch™ 9810 - $49.99 after $100 MIR
  • T-Mobile® G2x™ with Google™ - $49.99 after $50 MIR
  • LG Optimus T™ - $0.00 after $50 MIR
  • Dell™ Streak™ 7 - $0.00 after $100 MIR
  • HTC® Wildfire S™ - $0.00 after $50 MIR
  • Samsung Gravity® Smart - $0.00 after $50 MIR
  • BlackBerry® Curve™ 9360 - $0.00 after $50 MIR
  • Samsung Galaxy S™ 4G - $49.99 after $50 MIR
  • T-Mobile® Jet™ 2.0 Laptop Stick - $0.00 after $25 MIR
  • T-Mobile® Rocket™ 3.0 4G Laptop Stick - $0.00 after $25 MIR
  • T-Mobile® 4G Mobile HotSpotk - $0.00 after $25 MIR
  • T-Mobile® Sonic 4G Mobile HotSpot - $0.00 after $25 MIR

One reason I posted this is cause my contract is up and I'm looking to upgrade my phone (well, replace my dead Blackberry).  Do you think this will be the final set of deals for the year?
