HTC / Broken headphone jack on G2
« on: November 13, 2011, 10:27:05 pm »
I have a G2 running lastest CM7 nightly and my headphone jack has some sort of short in it. I know its not my headphones, because I've tried multiple ones. Does anyone know of fix. I got my device at launch so my warranty is over so trying to get a replacement is probably out of the question. Thanks in advance.

If its running the 2.0.2 firmware that came out yesterday then its not unlockable yet.

It was very easy to unlock mine, and I've unlocked quite a few. I used ZiPhone, its a GUI so its pretty easy to use. There is also another one called pwnage tool that makes a custom firmware that you just upload on the phone through iTunes.

Looks like I might not be able to do what I planned...  I'm curious as to what they will do if you don't activate it within 30 days...
Basically your only option would be to get the iphone and activate it, then cancel after the first month of service.  You'd have your 3g iphone then.  Though you'll still have to wait until it's able to be unlocked.  I don't think it would be worth it myself.

I don't think it would be worth it either. We'll see if they eventually sell them online and then you do the activation on iTunes like the previous one.

Edit:From what I've been reading elsewhere you won't be able to purchase it at all online.

I'm going to be getting the 3G iPhone, but I'm going to unlock it. I know the 3G functionality will not work with T-Mobile, but everything else should work. Here's to July 11th!

I had an unlocked iPhone, but I dropped it and the screen cracked, so I'm s.o.l. But I really enjoyed the touchscreen keyboard, and I was actually really fast at typing on it.

If they would have a Samsung phone like the Samsung Instinct for Sprint, I'll buy myself one. :o
I think it's just the CDMA version of the Samsung F700.  It's not too bad.

CDMA  version of the F700 is Verizon's Glyde/U940.

I loved my E635. I would love to see something like the F700 on Vodafone make it on T-Mobile.
