Nexus One / 2.2 not compatible with some apps? how to download attachments from gmail

hey guys. with my g1 i had the app apkatcher. This app made it possible to download attachments sent to my email. pics, files, whatever.. it doesnt seem to be working on my phone. does anyone havethis program working on 2.2? some people commented in the app comments that they had it working on their nexus but im assuming it was back before the 2.2 update.
