T-Mobile Services / Can you just transfer responsibility for @Home line?
« on: January 07, 2011, 01:12:03 am »
Thinking of porting out of my @Home line, but I've still got 4 Months contract.  Is it possible to do a change of responsibility for just the @Home line and keep the two other lines on my family plan?

T-mobile Deals / Highlight and Shadow free today
« on: November 09, 2009, 12:25:13 pm »
T-Mobile online is showing Highlight and Shadow as free w/ two year activation today.  Just re'uped in August so can't tell if prices are discounted for upgrades as well.

As an added bonus, both of these phones only require $10/mo for unlimited data.

The Circus (lounge) / Project Dark - Where's the partners?

I really think TMO is blowing the marketing on this thing.  I mean, advertising the new prices is great, but what do you do when the potential customers find out how much it costs to purchase a phone @ retail from TMO?

Think about when Microsoft brings out a new OS.  They've got all these other hardware and software sellers lined up with new products and ads to go with Microsofts new product.

So now here we have TMO introducing a new series of plans that set a new price point for services, BUT you have to "bring your own" phone.  Well, Circuit City online has almost a hundred unlocked GSM cell phones, Newegg has 70 or so, Tiger Direct has over a hundred, and Amazon lists over 250!  Would it kill them to stick some advertisements on these sites?  How about "Bring Your own Phone" to TMobile, unlimited talk and text $xx.xx.  or something like that.  Or maybe some links to "approved" retailers from the EM+ Plans section.  And how about some ads on eBay?  There are not only unlocked phones, but all the folks trying to sell the previous TMo phone.

If you're really going to try to break the current system and get away from subsidized phones, You need to get the rest of world to go along with the plan.  None of the retailers see any profit from the EM+ plans so they are just burying them.  TMo needs to convince the retailers they can make their profit on the Phone sale, and then guide the folks to TMo for service.  Six months later, when your customer decides the want to move up to a Qwerty phone, they come back and you get another sale.  Because they are not under contract, customer can just change their EM+ plans around any time they fell like it with no long term commitment.

Or do you think TMo really thought they were going to bring in big bucks from selling phones at their "retail" cost to all the EM+ people?

Samsung Discussion / Highlight now rated as Phone First device
« on: October 29, 2009, 10:06:36 pm »
If you select the Highlight on the TMo web site, your data choice is Unlimited Web for phones Free Trial.  I started a Chat w/ the CSR and he confirmed that the Highlight is considered Phone-First device.

That means that if WalMart hasn't raised their prices, you can go in the store, pick up a Highlight for the subsidized $18.88, and pay less with the Even More plan than you would with the Even More Plus plan:

EM+
500 Minutes TTW = $59.99

EM
500 Minutes = $39.99 + $10 txt + $9.99 UL Web for Phones = $59.98

Behold is still considered Smartphone, tho.

UPDATE:  Well, that's embarrassing.  :(  As per response below, for dumbphones with EM+, you need to select your Talk & Text option first, and then add data after you select your phone.  That way the EM+ plan is still $10 cheaper than then EM plan.

EM+
500 Minutes TT = $39.99 + $10 UL Web for Phones = $49.99

EM
500 Minutes = $39.99 + $10 txt + $9.99 UL Web for Phones = $59.98

Does this remind you of anything we've heard discussed lately?

T-Mobile@Home / TMo still selling VTech phone?
« on: April 20, 2009, 06:04:31 pm »
Is TMo still selling the VTech TM3111-2 set for T-Mobile@Home service?  I don't see it on their web site any longer.  Is there a replacement coming?  Are there other phones available that interact with the TMo @Home routers?

Thanks,

T-mobile Deals / Customer Loyalty deals still active?
« on: April 01, 2009, 04:00:27 pm »
Does anyone know if the $135 credit for transferring in a line is still active?  If so, does anyone know how much longer that is going to go on?

Also, is the free myFaves add-on still available?

Oh, and for the rest of the folks - same question on the unlimited loyalty promotion.

thanks!

Sony Ericsson Discussion / TM506 eMail
« on: August 30, 2008, 12:31:11 am »
Can anyone tell me, if you have TZones (T-Mobile web?), will your eMail (AOL, Yahoo, gMail, etc) go through that?  Or will each eMail count as a text message?

Tech Hotline / T-Mobile says I can't port my Landline?
« on: June 30, 2008, 11:14:21 pm »
Called 611 today to get some information.  The CS offered to check to see if my landline could be ported.  She check one place that said it was OK, but then checked another place and said it could not, and that I would have to check with Embarq to see why not.  Does this make sense?  The number is 763-425-xxxx.  We've had it for 20 some years (even longer than I've been a t-Mobile customer  ;) ).  I can call Embarq but I just cannot see them being motivated to figure out how to allow me to port out.
