G1 Discussion / Just one thing that kinda bugs me
« on: March 31, 2009, 12:15:05 am »
Maybe it's just my phone. Who knows, but I really get annoyed when I am getting a call and my phone takes forever to start the ringtone, whatever it may be.  Sometimes it plays the wrong one and sometimes it just won't play it and reverts to a basic ring. (Like if you have your phone connected via USB and mounted)  Is this a memory card issue? I am using the one that came with the phone and of course have formatted it many times.

BlackBerry Discussion / Curve Freezes
« on: February 12, 2009, 06:24:00 pm »
My fiance recently bought a Curve and has been getting used to a phone that is much more than a phone. Recently she's dabbled in putting music and photos on a memory card. She bought a 2GB one to use and since then she's had problems with the phone locking up completely. We were told a 2GB card should be fine. It has been formatted and still the phone will lock up.  Obviously without the card in, she hasn't had a problem.  Is there a certain way the card needs to be formatted or are all cards NOT created equal?

UPDATE:

Now she says after taking the pictures off, the phone does not freeze with the 2GB card in it. This is frustrating.

Tech Hotline / Porting question
« on: February 01, 2009, 10:27:02 pm »
Don't tell me to search, the search function needs a search to search through the garbage that pulls up.  But my fiancé recently ported a number, yes we were told it takes 24 hours, but what is the average time for it to normally kick in? Never done this before and she is getting impatient with wanting to use her new Blackberry.

G1 Discussion / Will be getting my G1 this weekend.
« on: January 27, 2009, 10:36:22 pm »
...Ordering it, that is. And I have read many things on this forum and through out the intarwebs.

Major complaints that I see is that the battery life sucks and there aren't a whole lot of apps out there.  Now, the apps aspect is somewhat of a big deal seeing that it would appear to me that Google has definitely dropped the ball on this. Where is this 2nd developer's contest at? Ya know, the other half of the prize they talked about so long ago.  I'm assuming the battery life isn't really that bad. If I can get a days use out of it, that's good enough for me. The most I would use it for us casual browsing and calls and I'm sure I'd use an app or two.  These reviews make it seem like the batter needs to be charged almost always once during the day no matter what you do.  I think these people had cute little flip phones that didn't ever do anything. Is this battery life comparable to the iPhone? I've heard complaints about that phone too, anyway. I'm sure it's all whining.

I've seen some camera shots from this phone and they look fine to me, again, this is another item people complain about. I guess some people are too damn cheap to buy a $200 digi cam for that.  Anything can take better pics than my current Nokia 6133.

Anything else I should be made aware of?

G1 Discussion / Upgrade
« on: November 14, 2008, 11:42:07 pm »
Logged into mytmobile to fine out that I am eligible for the upgrade price now.  Which is what I was waiting for. Thank god. Now I see they are on back order and I read the UPS tracking thread and this looks like a nightmare.  And the upgrade fee (AKA: Bull**** fee) Anyway to get around that online or do I have to call and annoy a rep? haha  I'm coming from a Nokia 6263, big changes, I know. But I really could use a new phone.

T-Mobile Services / Callertune previews do not work
« on: November 14, 2008, 10:06:45 pm »
It's always been an issue with me. Firefox I have to do some magic with to get them to work and generally IE will play it. I run Vista.  Now I cannot get them to work at all. I really wish Tmobile would design a website that doesn't fail so epic-ly. :x

Nokia Discussion / Nokia 6263 shutting off
« on: November 08, 2008, 10:50:52 pm »
Recently in the past week my 6263, with updated firmware from NSU, has been shutting off it seems as soon as it goes into screensaver mode.  (I should mention I have had the updated firmware for a few months or so now.) Basically every time I have put my phone down after using it and then going back to check for messages because I haven't heard it ringing or making noise, it's off.  I put it down for 1 minute once only to find it off already.  The phone is only about 6 months old.  I got it new.  I have to revert back to my hacked 6133 for now. Unfortunately I bought it off ebay so I doubt Nokia would honor any kind of warranty since I'm sure the guy I bought it from isn't an authorized reseller.

Of course the battery is fully charged and it will still turn off. I don't think I've noticed it go off when plugged in. Which makes me think my battery is retarded. I've also had issues with the signal getting wonky. I will look at my screen at the operator logo will sporadically go away and reappear much more than usual. Can an old SIM card cause this? I've had it for 3+ years now.  Also, before this happening, alot of the times the phone will "reset" by that I mean it will goto an all white screen, thus causing me to stop doing whatever I am currently doing on the phone and then it will go back to the main active display.
