I'm curious why after the benchmarks were released, everyone jumped on board thinking that the HTC Glacier would be the first dual-core phone on the market.  The benchmarks listed on the same released image showed a Samsung Galaxy S phone with nearly identical benchmarks.  Now that we know the G2 has a brand new, super fast qualcomm processor - that's said to be very similar to Samsungs Hummingbird chip, doesn't it make sense that maybe "glacier" was an early code name for the G2?

I'm planning on buying the G2 when it comes out (as I've loved my G1 - and a physical keyboard is a must) but I'm curious if anyone else has an alternate view of those numbers or any other information on a separate release of the "Glacier".  It seems clear to me that it's the same device - although rumors regarding project emerald hinted at two different phones.

G1 Tech support / Coverage differs from one G1 to another??

I've been trolling this board for awhile, but I finally thought to sign up and post as I'm quite frustrated.

I've been a T-Mobile customer for awhile now, and I got my G1 immediately when the preorder was available.  After showing it off for a week or two, I talked my friend into switching from Verizon and getting the G1 on Tmo.  I went to his house and his G1 had between 2 and 3 bars.  I had no coverage at all.  The next day he came to my house where I have 2 bars.  He had FULL bars.

I called customer service and they said it might be because of my old SIM card (my G1 didn't come with a new one).  So I went to my local Tmo store and bought a SIM card for 20 bucks.  After changing it out, they had a couple G1s on the counter and one guy had one in his pocket.  Their G1s: Full bars.  Mine: 1 bar.

What the hell is going on???  Anyone else notice their coverage change???  (My old samsung T809 had much better service)  Anyone know anyone else who has a G1, and have you compared your service?
