LG / Re: LG Optimus 2x Confirmed for T-mobile (Video)
« on: January 31, 2011, 11:59:16 pm »
Ain't they the same phone but with a different name?

LG 2x seems a lot better.  It has a dual core processor, hdmi to tv output where you can use the phone on your tv (not sure if this is all that useful though).

LG Black is thinner, has a better screen, and wifi direct.

Now they have announced the LG Optimus 3D...so the 2x has already been surpassed!

so no LG 2X but possibly LG Black for t-mobile according to that androidspin picture right?  I guess it was too good to be true thinking T-mobile would get the 2x.

G2 / Re: Debating on purchasing the G2
« on: November 30, 2010, 06:17:46 pm »
The problem with the myTouch 4G is the fact that I can't stand full touch.  I need a hard keyboard with my phone lol.  And with enough of the review of the myTouch 4G that I have read, I am not that impressed.

And I don't care so much about being integration into the OS, my care I guess would be if it will stream each update and not take it off until I have read it like Happenings.

i would get the G2 since it is free right now.  Someone else mentioned the defy and it is a great phone as well but it doesn't have a keyboard...so you prob wouldn't want it.

Behold II / Re: worst phone ..
« on: November 26, 2010, 07:42:15 am »
I'll NEVER buy anoher Samsung phone because of the Behold 2. The Charm is light years better than the Behold 2. The charm is an entry level Android phone, but Motorolas hardware is light years ahead of Sammys.

you might regret what you're saying about motorola when you've encountered problems like i've had with past motorolas.

do they even care if you return the phone with fingerprints?  aren't those normal on touchscreen phones?  I guess next time I wouldn't bother to clean the phone if I returned a phone.

T-Mobile Services / Re: Looking for the Best Family Plan Ever!!!

from everything I've read the $5 add-on lines don't apply to the grandfathered plans.  However, if Viper has the $5 add-on with a grandfathered family plan or heard of someone doing that, then it's worth a try.  I wouldn't bet on them giving that to you though.

T-Mobile Services / Re: Preferred Unlimited Data
« on: November 22, 2010, 10:19:40 pm »
I always upgrade in the stores due to return policy.  If you upgrade in stores you can return to store within the first 14 days.  If you don't, then you have to send the device back and wait for another in mail.

The lesson if you upgrade in the store and you have a plan or feature you want to keep, is to question the rep thoroughly that he won't touch the data plan if you buy the device from him and he won't change anything on the account.

If he won't do that, or he seems incompetent, don't buy from him and find another rep.  Telesales can be just as shady.  Who knows what they're doing to your account when they're sitting there typing.  And if your order via web, who knows what the automated system will do.  I still believe that looking someone in the eye is safest way to buy the T-Mobile devices.

I normally agree with you on buying phones in store.  Returning phones to the store is much easier than shipping it out.  However, I thought you could only add the preferred data plans over the phone?  I didn't want to upgrade to an android phone in-store and then have to get it switched over to the $20 plan.  Plus they gave me a better deal over the phone than in-store even though I was still on contract, but fully upgrade eligible.

i thought the indicator is usually on the inside of the phone?

Thanks for the help. I am doing my research now since my wife's line is about to be out of contract so then me and her will upgrade our phones. I am hoping I can get 49.99 plan with 10 family text messaging plan. With all the older plans, are they able to get additional lines added for $5 or are additional still be $10?

the myfaves was a free add-on with the 49.99 plan.  Lines are only $5 with the new plans I believe.

The $49.99 family plan with 600 minutes would probably be good for you if it's still available.

Yes it says a data plan is required so they are allowed to do it. You did an upgrade & they can change it & you cant remove it for 2 yrs. It was a mistake on their part to not add it to the 2nd line u shouldve been considered lucky & left it alone. A blackberry requires a DATA plan it is a must when you do a 2yr upgrade.

but he already had the $20 unlimited preferred data plan...i don't think they're supposed to change it to the $30 plan unless that was stated upfront.

Alright, t-zones doesn't work on the mytouch slide. Data worked for the first couple of hours but it stopped working altogether. It couldn't even load up the upsell page.

were you using the APN internet2.voicestream?

T-Mobile Services / Re: USB Tethering has officially been BLOCKED!
« on: November 16, 2010, 01:00:17 am »
well the xda forums have some people reporting their tethering is disabled through all types of tethering apps.  There's a lot of extraneous talk in the threads though.  They used wifi tethering as well as usb..rooted and unrooted.  One person wasn't even tethering and got a message about it when downloading a movie on his phone.

why would they just block his usb tethering and not wifi tethering?  that doesn't make sense.

Defy / Defy first impressions?
« on: November 14, 2010, 11:39:33 pm »
I was wondering if anyone owns one here yet.  I will be getting mine soon and I can post some first impressions later.  I noticed some problems while playing with it in the store though.  The haptic feedback mechanism doesn't seem to turn on/off properly.  Someone else also posted this problem elsewhere.
