T-mobile Deals / how does one find out about these deals

HI...really bummed to finally have some days off and check this website and find out that I missed an awesome opportunity to get a free smartphone from T-Mobile.  How would I go about getting notifications of sales like this in advance?  I don't live in a town with a store or watch enough TV to have seen commercial ads.  Any suggestions of how I could get on some kind of email list?  I can't seem to find anything like that on the T-Mobile website.

Can anyone tell me if my iphone 3g that is unlocked and jailbroken and I use on TMobile here in the states will work down under if i buy a sim card over there or even buy one here before i go?

i emailed the developer about this when i had the same problem.  he said that some carriers get confused and won't accept the icons even tho they are valid characters and t-mo is one of those carriers as well as some European carriers.

so a friend just sent me a picture message and i got an error saying that the media content was not included due to a picture resolution or message size restriction.  was that from my end or hers?

and anyone have any luck figuring out why i can't send group messages without them turning into picture messages???

i have tried turning the phone off and on and even took facebook off of backgrounder but i can't get the app to open completly.  when i touch it the facebook title page starts to open but only load the top bar that says Facebook with the rest of the page being white then it shuts down and takes me back to iphone home screen

Internet Setup:
Go to Settings, General, Network.
Enable 3g has to be off. the iPhone is missing the 1700 MHz band and if 3g is turned on it sometimes prevents the phone from working at all, or sometimes just prevents the internet from working.
Data Roaming: on
Click Cellular Data Network, enter:  epc.tmobile.com    as the APN.
(No username or password)

If this fails, go to Settings, General, Reset, and select Reset Network Settings.
(Note: DO NOT select Reset All Settings, that will re-lock the phone to AT&T)
After the phone restarts you must enter the settings again before the internet will work.

 
MMS (picture message) setup:
(Note: This is only available on iPhones with the 3.0 software version or newer, and only on the 3g or 3gs be default. There is a hack you can install that enables this on the 2g, but I've never done it personally)

Go to Settings, General, Network, Cellular Data Network, MMS:
APN: wap.voicestream.com
(No username or password)
MMSC: 216.155.174.84/servlets/mms
MMS Proxy: 216.155.165.50:8080

The phone usually must be restarted before the option to send pictures is enabled.

(Note: If this MMS setup fails, use:
APN: epc.tmobile.com
MMSC: mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
Proxy: [blank])




i don't seem to have many problems sending and receiving texts except for the occaisonal ones i never got from people.  and i tested this out and was able to send and receive picture messages i just don't understand why it's making regular group texts into picture messages...

so, i have tried to send a couple of group texts and when i send them or as i am choosing the people to send to, it all of a sudden becomes an MMS message even tho there is no picture attached.  how can i prevent this from happening?  not all of my friends can receive picture messages or they get charged more for them.  Help!

i've been having issues with my contacts seeing as i don't want to sync them thru itunes with my outlook contacts.  i imported them from my sim card to the iphone.  but i also wanted to be able to manage them and save them electronically the way i have been able to with mytobile account.  so i created a gmail account and somehow ended up with two versions of contacts on phone.  When i go thru the process to update the phone, and then follow your instructions on the 4th will i have lose all my contacts that are on the phone and have to reinstall them again?  what about the apps i have put on the phone?  sorry for the questions but this will be the first time i have done this with any data already on the phone.

oh wait...another question.   what will upgrading give me if i already am able to receive and send MMS thanks to the other post by amoer (maybe the wrong name...)

so since i'm kinda ignorant when it comes to all of you guys talking about this stuff, are you saying that if i have a unlocked 3G version 3.0 with 4.26.08 modem firmware i will  now be able to upgrade it via itunes when it asks to upgrade and then be able to unlock it with this blacksnow on a PC compter?  or am i still out of luck because its 4.26.08?

i didn't find this website until too late.  i added the plan, tried it out on the katalyst, then tried putting the sim card in the iphone and it didn't seem to work so instead of waiting out the 30 day free trial period i just cancelled right away.  now it seems like from what i am finding on other pages that it probably won't work at all for me to try and sign up again with the katalyst then switch to the iphone again.  oh well.

and i don't live in an area where i can get 3g or edge i don't think.  maybe edge...

i might call at some point and see what the deals are with the new plans.  there is one for $79.99 that seems like it would give me unlimited everything...minutes, texts, and full web access i think.
