Sony Ericsson Discussion / Trials and Tribulations with TMobile and the TM506 with My Favs
« on: August 22, 2009, 08:22:43 am »
Hi,
I thought I would try to get some feedback here.
I am going to try to consolidate this as much as possible. 10 days ago I changed my plan with TMobile to My Favs. I was told the TM506 was the perfect phone for this. I upgraded my phone on 06/06/09. And set up My Favs on 08/11/09.
I went to the TMobile website to enter the people I wanted their numbers and their pictures to show up on my phone. After trying unsuccessfully to do this for close to 2 hours I started to wonder if it wasn't working because my computer is a Mac? Long story short that was the issue. I logged out of Safari and went to use Firefox. This took my info. Personally I feel somewhere there should be something saying not compatible with Safari. Anyway once all was set nothing showed up on the phone. I called TMobile and after trying several things I was put through to tech support. Tech mentioned the issue with Safari.(Oh Customer service had no clue about issues with Safari.)
Long story short after being on the phone with tech for close to 90 minutes they said to power off the phone for the evening and wait 24 hours for the My Favs to show on the phone. Nothing. But I did receive two different text messages from TMobile telling me My Favs were cancelled from my phone. When I called to discuss that they said that wasn't possible and they were still showing on my account. I gave them the text message date and time. They had no clue why I would receive such a message. Ok I am trying to keep this short. I would say so far between computer time and phone time I am up to about 5 hours spent on this.
Next Day. Still no Favs. Back on the phone with TMobile for more testing and such. About 90 mins total time this call. It was decided they would send me a cable to hook up my computer to my phone. I had to wait 3 days for the cable. Oh and I don't use text messaging but because TMobile asked me to send a text I was charged for that. I was told I must have made the text when I was on chat online with Tmobile last week for close to another 90 Mins.
The cable came No directions or anything. So back on the phone to TMobile. After going through all the issues again they finally got a Tech 2 person on the line to help me with this. I had to bring up Sony Ericissons website and hook the cable to the phone and computer. To get any updates for the phone to load. Guess what? The updates on Sony Ericson's website are not compatible with Mac. The tech 2 person wanted me to call Sony and see if they had any plans to upgrade that area for Mac. Other parts of their service accepts Mac. I called Sony and was told no they had " no plans to update service compatibility with Mac for the foreseeable future". The tech 2 person marked the account to "swap" my phone if this was the case. So back on the phone with TMobile again. I was told they could only ship me out the same phone but the "supervisor" said the phone will have all the current software installed. I asked if he knew when they would have installed the software? Said "No" I said my phone was purchased in June how do I know I won't be getting the same phone? He said I had no choice. This call from beginning to end 2 1/2 hours.
Next day no signal on the phone, back on phone with TMobile had to send the signal again 30 mins
Today the replacement phone arrived. Guess What? It doesn't work with My Favs. They don't show up. Back on the phone. I asked for a supervisor who was one of the rudest people I have spoken with. I was told there is "nothing they can do and it must be something I am doing." So many people there have the TM506 and not 1 person has had an issue he informed me. I was told "My buyers remorse period was over" and this is the phone I have unless I want to pay for an upgrade. I was amazed. Oh, he said he could send out another TM506 for me also. I wanted to put my head through the wall. He was telling me I must not know how to program the phone correctly. Then he told me to go to a TMobile Store and they would be able to program it for me. And if they couldn't he wanted it documented. 2 hours.
How stupid am I? I go to the TMobile store and what does the guy there tell me? "Oh we have had a lot of problems with this phone and people with their My Favs" HELLO. He took my sim card out of my phone and tried it in a different phone and guess what? There were My Favs. Names, Numbers and Pictures. Back in the car to home. I had to call TMobile again and yes they are sending me another TM506. oh another 2 hours from start to finish. And I assume that phone won't work either.
I find it interesting that TMobile keeps saying there is no problem with the phone and my favs but at the TMobile Forum others have discussed this similar issue.
I have asked for someone I could write to or email or something. TMobile does not think my time in all of this is valuable. About 13 hours so far give or take and the best they could offer me is a $20.00 credit. And I still have a phone that does not work properly.
Any guidance any of you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in Advance.
Believe it or not this is the condensed version.
