I don’t think this will happen. And even if they do buy it out, it won’t merge T-Mobile and Sprint into one company name. They’ll still be seperate names/seperate carriers, just owned by one company. And they certainly won’t convert all the CDMA devices to GSM because 1) Way too damned expensive. and 2) That would render all current Sprint devices useless, unless they felt like giving all current Sprint phone owners a new, free GSM version of whatever Sprint phone they own(which I can promise will never happen). T-Mobile will not get the Hero, Pre or Pixi. Keep livin’ the fantasy.

for me its not about the customer service, just price for service.

I fully agree. T-Moble's customer service was immaculate, but when it comes down to it, the price and service itself is what comes first. If your service is awesome, there's no need to get hold of a CSR. I have 0 complaints about Sprint's service or their customer service.

i went to an authorized dealer today to do an upgrade.  i have a family plan with two lines.

1.  touch pro 2 for myself
2.  Samsung behold for my wife

I walked in the store, the rep told me that touch pro 2 would be 350 plus tax.  i am okay with that as i have known that already.  I had to run to a meeting so i told my wife to stay and take care the paperwork and everything.

when i got home, i saw the invoice for the Samsung Behold at "$180" and tax of "$45" (on msrg of 500).  wow, i don't think that's right, i called the tmobile store and they told me it's $79.99 after rebate for a two year extension.  plus the retail price at tmobile online is $449.99

Can they do that (i know auto dealer does that all the time)?  what are my options?   they also put "no return and exchange" on their invoice....what's up with that? 

this really sucks, take away all the joy i have for the touch pro ii experience.

I don't think there is anything you can do 'cause places like that usually set their own prices to the phones they sell. They send a portion of it to T-Mobile for being able to sell their stuff and keep the rest as their profit. Of course, that's just what I think. I've never looked into it or anything.

For someone that talks moderately but needs unlimited smartphone data and unlimited text, Sprint has a well priced plan. 

For $70 on Sprint, you get 450 minutes, nights begin at 7, included mobile to mobile, unlimited texts and unlimited smartphone data. That's good for any smartphone, Blackberry, HTC, Palm Pre.

For a T-Mobile comparable, if you had 600 minutes or 300 minutes + My Faves, that's $40, plus unlimited smartphone data and texts add $35 for a total of $75.

And even at that, Sprint has mobile to mobile which would be another $7 on T-Mobile, they have nights at 7pm instead of 9pm and they include streaming audio and video with Music Premier and TV Premier at that price plus they have a more extensive 3G network.

Plus somebody said I could get 25% off the $70 sprint plan by signing up here:

which would bring the plan down to $52!

I get 20% off my phone bill for having an account with Arizona Federal Credit Union in my city. =)

I already jumped ship, fellas. Quit out on T-Mo last week and got a Pre. And I couldn't be happier. Signal/data strength punches T-Mobile's in the pee-pee with no remorse. And the Pre itself is an amazing device. Not to mention Sprint is getting the Hero and the SamsungQ(which is a G1 on steroids). It sucks 'cause I held out and hoped high for our dear Magenta, but they just didn't deliver. I'm happy with my $60 Sprint/Pre bill instead of a $94 G1 bill.

Sprint's version of the TP2 looks best, in my opinion(oh, my gOD...I actually spelled it! No IMO for me). Everything about it looks nicer, hardware-wise.

i understand tmobile having a flagship phone and i understand tmobile wanting the mt3g to be there flagship phone but when theres a phone exactly like it with a keyboard they should both be flagship phones

Look, the G1 had it's chance to be a flagship phone and it failed miserably.  Many people thought it was ugly and slow.  It couldn't even come close in competing with the Iphone. T-Mobile had high hopes for the phone and it wasn't well received.  In fact T-Mobile had a net loss of over 50,000 postpaid subscribers during the last three months.  T-Mobile isn't going to make the G1 a flagship----they want to sweep it under the rug somewhere so it will just go away.  It's an embarrassment.   Sure, they'll still probably sell it until they run out , but you won't see anymore TV commercials or ads for it. 

No, the MT3G will be the ONLY flagship phone.  T-Mobile is putting it up against the iPhone.  Will it be successful...probably a little.  But it will sell many more units than the G1 ever did.  The majority of people don't want a big bulky brick phone with a chin.   

it beat the iphone's speeds. its bulky because of the keyboard. and yhe mytouch has a chin, its not that bulky, yes bulkier than the iphone but theres a reason for that. yes the G1 and mytouch will be the flagship phones because if you want a keyboard go for the G1 if you wan a sleek phone with out a keyboard go for the mt2g if you want winmo go for the tp2. and the only reason there putting it up with the iphone is because it has the same for factor as the iphone. the only reson people even like the iphone is because its an apple and because of its apps. and when flash comes to android our android apps will completely destroy apples apps. and the iphone isnt getting  flash people.

sprint's getting the Hero with Flash, so they'll be the first. Not us.

They can have it, my sources indicate that T-Mobile is working on the "next generation G1" slated for release in 2010, my sources are accurate, as they're from corporate.

Sounds good and all. But I'm sure by the time that rolls out, several carriers will have several Android phones of equal or larger impressiveness.

Those were all actually *really* good points. I honestly hadn't even taken any of that into consideration. I guess it is sensible to say "wait a year" and see what they come up with. After reading your post and looking back, T-Mo is making a vast amount of improvements. Slowly, but surely, which is most likely why I didn't take any of that into account. I'd just be pretty stoked if T-Mo got phones like the HTC devices other carriers have seen(Touch Pro, Diamond, Mogul, etc) and more recent devices like the Pre.

I don't see his post reeking of any jealousy at all. It's more his opinion, which I'm sure many, many agree with, just haven't said anything. I can honestly say I don't see the big deal about the MT3G, either. And it's not out of jealousy because I could go pick one up right now if I wanted. I just don't want to. That, and I'd much rather have a physical keyboard than just an onscreen. However, I do think it is smart for T-Mo to be promoting and advertising and hyping the hell out of this thing, because it IS their current flagship device. TP2 will be amazing, but they're both two completely different phones geared at two completely different groups: TP2 - Business Oriented. MT3G - The General Masses.

I kind of see what you're saying, but at the same time, there's another side of your posting. For me, personally, I don't dig on the MT3G. It's nice looking and all, but it's a G1 without a keyboard. It didn't even debut with new software, just the Donut that was given out OTA and some more storage. Not a whole lot to celebrate in my book. The Hero is an amazing device from what I've seen in the research I've conducted. And anyone that says it's not a big deal would probably eat their words if they actually got to own one and use it. I have a problem with T-Mo because, next to Verizon, we seem to be getting the ****-end of the stick when it comes to mobile devices. Sure, we're getting the TP2, but so is Sprint. We've got the G1 and MT3G, but Sprint's getting Hero. We're getting the Morrison, but Verizon's getting that hella awesome Motorola Android device. It's not so much that there isn't pleasing people. It's that T-Mo is capable of getting a lot more than they are and don't seem too interested in bringing better devices to their masses. Of course, that's just the way I see it.

I've actually seen quite a few videos of the Hero in action. Personally, I don't see the "lag" as much of a problem. It's like that with every new platform and it has MASSIVE potential. And as someone formentioned(my apologies for not checking the poster before writing this), they can improve it with updates. My G1 has been lagging really, really, really bad the last couple of months. Also, I don't think Sprint will do anything to this phone, negatively, that is. As far as I know, they don't have a history of demoting phones' features.

Thanks for the replies, guys, I appreciate it. A couple of 'em made me laugh a good deal as well. =)

He is very much familiar with MT3G and TP2. He has a G1 now(like me) and doesn't see anything of value to himself with a MyTouch that he doesn't already get with his G1. And he said Sprint's getting the TP2 anyway.

When I said argue, though, I didn't mean legitimately arguing. Ha ha. More like a debate and me trying to convince him. He's just more interested in the plan prices, network(their 4G) and Pre/Touch Pro 2.

Didn't really know where else to post this, so I apologize if a similar topic has been discussed. My friend is really unsatisfied with T-Mo on a lot of different levels i.e. phones, servicel data connection, etc.

He's contemplating getting his hands on a Pre. I'm kind of running out of arguements for this discussion with him. Any thoughts?

Personally, I don't see the huge buzz about this phone. As far as I have looked into it, it doesn't do anything that the G1 can't(anyone feel free to correct me if I'm wrong). Since the MT3G's release, I always thought it was a bad idea that they released the MT3G with the TP2 having it's own release just a couple months away. If anything, I'd say T-Mo should somehow grab the Pre. Other than the TP2, they're not anywhere near impressing me with any releases, present or upcoming.

I know this has more than likely been discussed, and I apologize if it has. I definitely wish T-Mo was getting this phone, and I am honestly hoping they do in the near future(though it's not likely). Other than babbling about that, a friend of mine made a very good point:

He wants to leave T-Mo and join Sprint for the Palm Pre. He feels like T-Mo is pretty far behind in the device race and is becoming more and more aggrivated. I was making my points with Android devices and others(i.e. G1, MyTouch3G, TP2, future phones coming) and his rebuttle, being very good, was that Android will be releasing on many major carriers before '09 is over. He also pointed out that Sprint will be releasing the TP2 as well and also having more devices coming out. Does anyone agree or disagree with his/my logic?

Edit: Apologies for the original posting title. Once I looked back on it, it looked very misleading. Sorry to anyone that read this thinking it was something else.
