Nexus One / another MMS issue
« on: February 05, 2010, 01:19:31 am »
i did a search on this forum so my apologies if this has been addressed already, but i just couldnt seem to find it...

i FINALLY got incoming and outgoing MMS working last week. everything was fine.  now i updated to cyanogens newest ROM and i cant send MMS and when i receive one the photo is all blurry and stretched out.  ive tinkered with my APN settings for a bit but they all end up with lame distorted photos.  can someone give me the definitive nexus one APN settings?  settings that will ensure that the photos come up the right size/format?  i cant remember which ones i used the first time i fixed this issue.  thanks to anyone who can supply me with this!

Nexus One / T-Mo employees getting Nexus One?
« on: December 30, 2009, 11:00:18 pm »
i'm a t-mobile employee and nobody in my store/district has heard anything about getting the phone for personal use.  i know stores wont be carrying them but have any of you heard anything about using your employee upgrade discount to get yourself the device?  our employee upgrades are much different than the standard 22 month rule for customers so i wasnt sure how that would work for us.

MyTouch 3G / anyone notice the green mytouch logo on new commercial?
« on: September 06, 2009, 12:18:49 am »
i saw the mytouch commercial with whoopi, phil, and jesse a few times and i noticed the green mytouch logo on the back of the white version near the end.  it looks pretty sweet.  anybody else notice it or know where i can get a replacement back with the new logo color (as long as its reasonably priced lol).

ive been using an unlocked iphone since they first got unlocked.  currently using a 16GB white iphone 3G.  tested out a mytouch 3G for a little while the other day and i really enjoyed it (even after having a not so hot experience with a G1).  the mytouch is much sleeker and has a great design.  im still unsure about which phone has better apps.  id lean towards the iphone currently but i see the android market growing over time when more devices are available.

i also hate how the iphone cant multitask.  i text a lot and if i get a message while im in the middle of doing something i need to exit the app, go to my messages, then return back to the original app.  not that huge of a deal but its quite a pain.

i cant use 3g on my iphone but its not that big of a deal because i dont have 3G service in my area on tmobile.  i dont see that changing anytime soon either.

anybody else pondering a switch between an iphone and a mytouch?

i have read on a few other forums that the mlb@bat dev's responded to emails by stating that they are currently looking at creating the app for other devices.  seemed like a generic response and i havent found a smidge of information on mlb@bat for android specifically.

i dont know abut anyone else here but i would love to see an mlb app for android.  mlb at bat for the iphone is phenominal.  ive been thinking about ordering a mytouch but i would really miss mlb at bat.  for anyone who isnt familiar with this app it is probably the single greatest app for any baseball fan.  live updates, pitch by pitch updates (just like mlb.com gamecast), live streaming audio, video highlights after each inning, AND A FEW LIVE GAMES EACH DAY! well worth the $10 price tag.

google scoreboard is weak.  sports tap is alright but lags a bit and is somewhat buggy.  ive google'd my way around the web and a few forums today but it seems like there arent any plans to release a similar app for android.  i would even be happy with something a but more basic.  forget the live audio/live games.  pitch by pitch with some video highlights every few innings would put me over the top as an android supporter!

has anybody heard any news or rumors around the web about this kind of app?  i was playing with a mytouch 3g the other day and tried out the pro baseball live app but it force closed 3 times and when it finally opened it kept lagging.

General Android Questions / can you change/edit app names and icons?
« on: July 18, 2009, 01:16:40 pm »
i dont think this has been discussed before but its something i am a bit curious about.  its not a major concern but a concern none the less.

id like to be able to edit or change the names of certain apps.  For example, is there a way to mod Bloo and make it read facebook instead? im not concerned with the name inside the actual application just for my home screen and menu.

im also curious about changing the particular icons.  ive been using an unlocked iphone since the original unlock but im thinking of changing over to a mytouch (tried the G1 for a bit but i just wasnt satisfied with the physical design).  i know i had a lot of similar options on my jailbroken iphone but wasnt sure if these sorts of options existed on the android OS.

Apple / Re: iPhone 3.0 FW
« on: June 16, 2009, 04:26:27 pm »
yeah i was taking the wait and see approach as well.  i cant seem to find anything on the matter.  so many obscure iphone sites come up in google.  i hope its not how it will work for t-mo users but if it ONLY works on 3G for ATT i doubt there will be a hack around it for us magenta users.

I have a question concerning the new MMS feature on the new 3.0 firmware.  I read somewhere a few weeks ago that the MMS feature will only function over the 3G network.  I forget which blog it was on but now i cant find it.  Does anyone know if there is any truth behind this?  Im using Swirly MMS now but i wouldnt mind using a native MMS app that comes built into the standard messaging app.  This would be a total bummer to all of us T-mobile users since the 3G frequency is different than AT&T's.  Any info would be greatly appreciated!

G1 Discussion / Re: MMS delay?
« on: December 09, 2008, 08:53:13 pm »
tried sending one to myself.  it took about 2 hours before i received it.  two friends with verizon tried it and one with sprint.  never had a problem with the same people sending MMS to my unlocked iphone using swirly mms.

G1 Discussion / MMS delay?
« on: December 08, 2008, 07:26:14 pm »
is anyone else experiencing a delay when someone sends you a photo message?  its been happening to me all week.  for example, someone sent me one the other day and my phone went off, and i had a notification for a new text. downloaded the pic, and then the timestamp changed to when it was originally sent. any ideas on a fix?

only 2 days?  they cannon dispute your exchange then.  tmobile has a 14 day buyers remorse option (30 in california).  call back and get a different rep. hopefully one who doesnt suck.  rather than saying you knew the problem existed just tell them you saw the photos on t-mobileG1.com and they keyboard looked harder to see than something like a blackberry or sidekick but not horribly difficult.  Then tell them when you received the handset it was extremely difficult to see.

G1 Discussion / Re: boring lock screen
« on: December 06, 2008, 12:15:41 am »
either way you look at it....its still boring haha.  you should be able to pick a lock screen background or something.  either 9 dots, or the date and time is just simple and lame.

wouldn't it be nice if we could edit and modify that boring ol lock screen?  all black with a blue box including the time and date is so lame for such an awesome piece of equipment.

im sure this option will arise sooner or later.

G1 Discussion / Re: new os update??
« on: December 04, 2008, 06:43:32 pm »
how do you know which RC you have? i poked around for a bit on my G1 and i saw my software version was a long number that ended in .29.  does that mean i have rc29? and how do i make sure that i dont update if i have rc29?  i was under the assumption that the update was automaticly done ota

G1 Discussion / automatic screen orientation app
« on: November 27, 2008, 09:16:22 pm »
just read over on modmygphone.com that theres a new app on the market that makes your screen auto rotate from portrait to landscape mode.  the youtube clip seems legit and ive been waiting for this sort of app but didnt think it would be available so soon!  it says you need root access for it to work and i guess that goes along the lines of "jailbreaking" the phone which i did on a few iphones but i dont really intend to do on my g1.  but at least its out there which means a more legit app may be coming to the market soon :)
