Nexus S / Nexus S (T-Mobile version) ICS upgrade
« on: April 30, 2012, 11:17:27 am »
What's the current T-Mobile Nexus S 2.3 ROM name? The phone I saw shows that ICS is ready to be installed, but when you go to install it, and it reboots, a yellow triangle with an exclamation point shows up. It won't install.

The ROM name shows something weird for Gingerbread. We bought the Nexus S online from ebay, and the seller said they didn't know if the phone was rooted or if a custom ROM was installed.

I think T-Mobile has serious backhaul, to boost their download speeds to the max. AT&T wants that.

Apple / Re: iPhone Headed To T-Mobile USA in 2011?
« on: August 04, 2011, 06:02:05 pm »
Were not getting the I phone so don't get your hopes up, Verizon through a ton of cash at Apple and that is why they got it.  Unless T-Mo opens the bank they are not getting it,  it is obvious Apple doesn't need the sales that would come, just look at how much they sold and made last quarter alone.

The jury is still out on that one. While it makes sense for Apple to release a model for each carrier, it's not like that wasn't the case this entire time yet they never did.

I can't sit here and claim that I know what Apple is thinking but releasing it to all carriers doesn't fit their doctrine.

Hardware was never the reason for not launching with other carriers, it was the mysterious exclusivity contract with AT&T. Since iphone4 launched with VZV, obviously that would mean they could make one for all carriers..yet they didn't.

It's a moot point really, since 2.1 Android closed the gap to all advantages other platforms offered. Except for apple fanboys, of course.

That's not true. It's only in the US, that they didn't put it on all carriers. AT&T exclusive agreement blocked it.

In Canada, Rogers was the first to get the iPhone due to the same WCDMA 850/1900 bands. But, once Bell and Telus launched their WCDMA/HSPA+ network, Apple quickly launched the iPhone with them too.

Verizon stated that they don't have an exclusive with Apple to sell the iPhone 4, so that means, that Sprint, along with T-Mobile could carry the iPhone 5, if Apple wanted.

Funny thing is that AT&T has AWS bands too, but they won't use it for GSM/EDGE cause they don't want the OEMs making phones that will work on T-Mobile's 3G network.

T-mobile needs this iPhone 5 with AWS support badly. No if/ands/or buts about it.

My problem, is that if the merger goes through, and us T-Mobile customers want to get iPhones next year, AT&T will force us to change over.

$96,000 jobs to be created by the T-Mobile acquisition:

http://gamutnews.com/20110531/12720/cwa-attt-mobile-merger-will-create-as-many-as-96000-quality-jobs.html

This is excellent news in a tough economy.
The CWA isn't exactly a neutral party in this deal so they're esitmate is likely overly optimistic and they don't mention how many jobs will be lost as a result of the merger either.

Yeah, plus they are supporting this stupid buyout.

AT&T has more spectrum than Verizon does, yet Verizon runs their network proficiently. They may run different technologies, but its all about the network, and the way you use it.

T-Mobile has way less spectrum than AT&T, on the PCS side, but they still have better service, and call quality in places where they both provide service.

I watched the live C-SPAN stream, and I can tell you that Stephenson is a major liar! He claimed that T-Mobile isn't a competitor to them, and that the government should examine this merger on a market by market basis, instead of on a national basis.

First of all, T-Mobile is a major competitor to them. Even the senate saw through that lie from Stephenson. I know what he meant by T-Mobile not being a major competitor. He means that he is more worried about Verizon's marketing and business, compared to T-Mobile. AT&T will not move on something, unless Verizon does it first.

Stephenson probably told Humm, to keep quiet, and let me do the talking. lol. I

Sohn told him, that "You never see AT&T attacking MetroPCS in their ads". lol, its true.

AT&T always tries to block people from having something. They blocked T-Mobile from having the iPhone. They know T-Mobile at the time, was cheaper with the MyFaves, and Get More plans. They wouldn't have stood a chance against T-Mobile's rate plans with the iPhone.

I remember being in an AT&T store on 34th Street across from Macy's in NYC, and these two guys were in the store. One of them complained and said AT&T is such garbage. I can't get anything to work. They are garbage compared to Verizon, and I might switch back to Verizon. When I heard that, I started to laugh, cause everyone knows AT&T is trash.

Another time on the subway, a girl was saying she wants the iPhone, but she doesn't want to go to AT&T, cause she heard so many bad things about them.

I believe the attacks were real. No doubt. I don't trust the Bush Administration. Only good thing, I can thank Bush for was the $300 Stimulus money I got in 2008. That was it.

Bush is nuts.

It wasn't really advertised much at all then, either. There was just a good-sized group of people who frequented here and posted more. I think all the posts and discussion brought more people to log in. There are tons of guests here at all times.

Edit: March of this year also shows the wackiest stat when compared to the relative inactivity here: The highest number of new members ever! (1059)

Where have you been?

Exactly.

Show needs to be a 1 hour show. Those stupid commercials make the 30 minute episodes only last 20 minutes.

They need to bring back the funny, and pay Kelly the money. That 6 episode stuff was wack.

All the speedtests ive seen so far..none of them have been in the 5-12mbps range vzw said. More in the 12-25 range. lol.

Yeah, its faster than what they are saying it should give off. I think they are playing it safe. I've seen the speeds hit 25Mbps down. That is faster than some cable internet speeds.

But, what I don't understand is why people say T-Mobile's network is fast because no one is on the network, compared to AT&T's. But T-Mobile has had 3G up going on 4 years now, and its still getting faster. Especially since majority of their phones now are 3G devices. Their could be more 2G devices on the network, but with all these people buying Vibrants, MyTouch devices, G2s, etc, their data network has to be using around 5% or more of 3G traffic. Still not nearly as close as the what is on their 2G network.

I think its faster because they aren't sharing their PCS spectrum with 2G and 3G, like how AT&T and Verizon are doing for 3G.

I am interested in one of the 32 inch vizio TVs because of their Internet apps. Anyone used their Vizio Internet App? Is it worth it?

« on: March 31, 2011, 09:35:44 am »
I am looking at buying a Vizio 32in tv from Costco. They say on their site, that they give you a 2-year warranty (1 year OEM, and 1 year Costco). What I am wondering, is if Vizio is good as a TV brand, and how is Costco as retailer for electronics.

The season finale was crazy. Crazy how Melanie fired Tasha, and making her choose between her own son, and Derwin.

What was crazy is that at the end, Derwin finds out that Melanie had an abortion. I was like where the heck did that come from. They threw about out of left field. But what I hate, is how they made it a cliff hanger, and now we won't know when Season 5 will start, if it starts.

Here are the ratings for Season 4:
